International bloggers are preparing an action to support the peaceful revolution in Burma. We want to set a sign for freedom and show our sympathy for these people who are fighting their cruel regime without weapons. These Bloggers are planning to refrain from posting to their blogs on October 4 and just put up one Banner then, underlined with the words „Free Burma!".
More information and banners here.
I'll be replying to the comments later.
Summer's almost gone. After three weeks vacation I finally start to understand how much I needed it - it's been ages since I had time or energy to just surf around, read books, walk in the rain, get enthusiastic about something. Once again I managed to almost visit the lands of numbness and apathy. With my history I should know better. I should take more time to myself. Treat myself with a good book and cup of tea instead of carrying out yet another task.

I also remembered my photography. Photoshopped a set for a dear friend and will start some others soon. Found all the pics from this summer - where did all the rare free days go?

Last week PinkyClyde visited Finland.

I miss her already
I think I'll have to start to save some money so I can visit France soon ![]()
So, how did your summer go? ![]()
* In the the Finnish national epic, Kalevala maid Marjatta becomes pregnant from eating a lingonberry.
Looksie what my lovely Vanessa showed me:

(I'm next to her in the new SG deck - can't wait to get a deck of my own.)
I've been a huge Rion Vernon fan since I don't know when. Before I even knew about SG I used to drool over his webpage (my friends told me I looked like her when I still had my long red hair) and wow, now he has illustrated me. I guess I'm going to faint.

Greetings from Lolland!

I visited Vinnland too
I finally got a new computer and my Internet connection back! ♥ Now I have gazzilion e-mails to read, so many sets to browse trough and journals to catch up with... Whoa! And of course I'm working like a maniac and have so little time to do all that. Pfft! Luckily it's Summer solstice tomorrow and the day afret that is Juhannus - the Finnish Midsummer - and we Finns have a strong tradition of Midsummer celebration with bonfires, folk magic and sauna. Or like Wikipedia puts it "[a] great many people get very drunk and happy"
(Wikipedia article)
What are you going to do on the solstice/Midsummer? Dance around naked? Eat and drink? Ignore the weird festivities you've never heard of?
***
And I'll have to tell you that I had the best birthday party ever with some of my friends, including lovely miss Miranda - I miss her and the other Finnish girls so much! I also moved and got a backyard, yay! I'll post some photos after installing Photoshop. Now it's time to go to sleep though the duration of day is 19h atm - won't get that much sleep because of the sunrise.
Merry Midsummer!
xx

Sorry for the silence - my computer said kaboom! -literally- and never woke up. Short diagnosis: too old power filled up with dust. I hope my HDs are still alive :S
- no Internet for a while, now I have my old laptop plugged in
+ I finally bought a new motherboard. 2.6 GHz dual core processor and 4GB DRAM. I think I am going to die.
No pics for you this time (see above) but hopefully in the near future.
-I'm really really tired because of working full hours, doing some freelance stuff and reading for three big exams
+I really like my job and love studying
♥ We'll have a SG Finland meeting this weekend, yay! I can't wait to meet all the wonderful ladies ♥
-spent too much money
+bought a new objective and computer stuff
What is cooler than having a t-shir with a really neat print on it?

All work and no play...
Workaholism combined with overachiever's mind isn't good. When you add another job, studying and volunteering to the equation, it becomes rather hazardous. Oops. I should take a longer break before summer or I'll burn out for real
Perhaps travel somewhere again, Berlin, UK, Italy... mmm. I'd love to visit St. Petersburg again, but I'll wait for the less-touristy wintertime with that one. Oh goddes, I miss mother Russia so much.
Some people have asked how can I afford to travel so much and I'll share my secret with you now: cheap flights ordered months before, super-cheap hostels and not spending much abroad. For example, the flights on my Europe tour (Helsinki->Paris->Rome->Helsinki) I payed 95 euros. Yep, ninety-five euros for three flights. Finding cheap hostels took a few hours in the Internet but it was worth it. And since practically everything is cheaper almost everywhere compared to Finland, eating for example, I don't spend that much when I'm travelling.

On the other news, we had Parliamentary elections on sunday and the results were quit, erm, interesting. Looks like center-right government to me but I hope they'll take the Green League along. I'm getting so old - just voting and nagging instead of actions and activism. But well, I have always found voting important though I might have something to say about d'Hondt method we are using, since having multitude of political parties is one of my favourite features of the Finnish system.
It was 100th anniversary of the first Finnish parliamentary elections and since ours were the first elections held under universal suffrage in Europe I celebrated the 19 female members of parliament elected in 1907 by exercising my civil rights. I voted for a young academic woman as I tend to do. (Like voting myself, ha ha.)
Because the election was held on sunday and I didn't have to work I decided to play some dress-up. (Usually I run my home-work-uni-home-work-home-uni-work circle wearing my age-old combat trousers and shabby t-shirts.) And since I adore amazing miss Zoetica I decided to make a tribute to her What's Zo Wearing with my vintage voting fest gear
What's Venla wearing?

This spring it's all about lace, wool and organic details. I'm obsessed with lace gloves and have several pairs in multiple colours - and they must absolutely be crocheted or knitted. By me or someone I know if possible. The other things I really seem to be unable to have too many are stockings. Every possible colour in fishnet, opaque or batik - you name it, I got it.
The jacket I'm wearing is one of my many second-hand findings, I think I paid around 5 euros for it and it's in really good condition. Not that I mind my clothes a bit worn, eh. The elvish ornament embroidements on the collar and the cuffs combined with the rather military look of the jacket stole my heart. I'm an elven soldier
The shoes are by Pennangalan and yes, I have far to many pairs of black boots with ski-hooks. I just haven't found the perfect pair yet
---
Lately I've been photographing and photoshopping a lot. Maybe a new set comig up, we'll see...
And I've started to draw again! Or at least I'm trying to. There'll be first Dr. Sketchy in Finland this week and I'm going to be there with a really special girl ♥
Spring will be here soon, thinking about pique-niques, swimming and lazy, sunny afternoons make me so happy. Purrs!
Mmm. But now some sleeping and weird dreams
