The HSUS's eight-month investigation revealed that many Petland stores across the country are marketing puppy mill puppies to unsuspecting consumers.

Another nationwide demonstration is taking place at Petland stores from 1 to 3 p.m. (unless otherwise indicated) on Saturday, March 14, and we want you to be there! At these peaceful, lawful demonstrations we will be asking Petland again to please stop selling puppies! Contact your local organizer with any questions that you may have. We will supply the signs and flyers; all you need to do is show up. Unless otherwise noted where to meet, please assemble only on the public walkways in front of the strip mall.

The HSUS Stop Puppy Mills campaign held 22 demonstrations across the U.S. on Jan. 10 to tell Petland to stop selling puppies. Read more»

Would you like to attend or help us organize a demonstration at a Petland near you? Please email us at stop-puppy-mills@hsus.org with the following information:


1. Your name, email address, phone number and closest Petland (a list of stores can be found here).

2. Whether you would like to be an attendee or organize and lead a demonstration.

3. Whether you would like to take photos at a demonstration.

4. Whether you would like to accept pet supplies (including towels and blankets) at a demonstration and take them to local shelters.

Can't make it to a rally? Don't live near a Petland? Visit your local pet store and encourage the store to become a Puppy Friendly Pet Store.

Store owners who sign and return the pledge which declares that they will discontinue selling puppies in their store or those who "make official" a current policy of not selling puppies, will be listed on The HSUS website. They will also receive materials to display promoting their decision and to educate their customers on adopting a pet or finding a responsible dog breeder.

If you're from California, please vote YES on PROP 2. If you're not from California, please consider making a small donation to the cause. This proposition would change the quality of the lives of farm animals in CA exponentially. No more battery cages, no more confining gestation crates. It doesn't seem like much to those who don't know what animals on factory farms actually have to ENDURE, but it really would be a vast improvement and monumental in convincing other states to follow suit. Be compassionate, vote yes on prop 2!!

Since becoming vegan a month and 1/2 ago, I've had to send food back at restaurants about 10 times. 3 of those times they STILL didn't leave off the cheese/sour cream/mayo, etc, and I had to scrape and maneuver around them in order to avoid sending my food back TWICE. I wait tables, so I know what it's like to take spec-ed out orders. Not that difficult, and I'm always very apologetic when sending items back, even though it's not my fault -- I told you the first time.

I just don't know what to do -- eating at restaurants is starting to become an incredibly annoying experience, especially since I spec out food all day long for my guests at work -- and can't seem to get that same level of service at other restaurants. Wtf.
