I'm reposting this for some DJ friends. I know it's last minute, but this is an important event, and I hope I can get in with a (very) expired ID, as muggers have all my current ones. Anyone near SF should come, it's going to be a rare experience:

March 10th 2008 marked the 49th anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising. Tens of thousands of Tibetans rose up against China's illegal invasion and occupation of their country. Despite China's best attempts to destroy the Tibetan spirit, Tibetan resistance has continued for nearly half a century inside Tibet and in exile communities worldwide. With all eyes focused on the Olympics in China, Tibetans and supporters worldwide are protesting the Chinese government's use of the Olympics as a political tool to legitimize its illegal occupation of Tibet.
On April 9, 2008, this very Olympic Torch will pass through San Francisco. This is the ONLY stop in North America. Help us draw attention to the worsening human rights situation inside Tibet. Help us use the Olympics spotlight to shame and embarrass the Chinese government and show them that until Tibet is free, China will never be never be accepted as a leader on the world stage.
Join Cyphertown and Giveback this Sunday to stand in solidarity with Tibetans and help raise funding for the March to Tibet, a non-violent campaign to bring Tibetans exiled in India back to their homeland. March to Tibet will include international DJ's and music, activist speeches and visuals of the Tibetan resistance at the infamous 1015 Folsom.
The Tibetan People's Uprising Movement is a global movement of Tibetans, inside and outside of Tibet, that is engaging in direct action to end China's illegal and brutal occupation of Tibet. Through unified and strategic campaigns, the Movement seeks to seize the Olympic spotlight and shine it on China's shameful repression inside Tibet, thereby denying China the international acceptance and approval it so fervently desires.

Got mugged again tonight - this is really getting old. I have no more ID's, no passport should I choose to go to London next month, no cell phone, and the person I was recording with said it was because I touched a cursed microphone.
Happy Vernal equinox!
Just in from Black Sun and will be posting about it soon, but in keeping with the sequence of recent events, here are some pics from the release party for my novel, Evangeline and the Drama Wheel. I'm reading from the book, obviously, and Leslie Dean of Telto fame is singing and playing guitar. I wish I had photos of Kristine Katalyst's amazing visual art to share! The event was cozy, as in small, but somehow I managed to sell a lot of books, which provided spending money for the goth festival I flew out to immediately afterwards! Thanks to everyone who attended, Luis Allen, photographer, and Death Guild, SF, for hosting us!

)
Release Party for my debut novel, Evangeline and the Drama Wheel, a fantasy-inspired chronicle of a local goth band's dysfunctionally liminal cross-country tour

Death Guild
520 4th St, San Francisco, CA
9:30pm-2:30am 18+ w/ valid ID $3.00 before 10pm $5.00 after
Here's the book's site.
From there I will head to the airport to attend the Black Sun goth fest in CT. I have been providing vocal tracks for the most amazing UK band, Attrition, and will be meeting up with them there.
I will also be getting some feline-inspired custom dental caps made by the great fangmaker, Dnash.
Also, this Sat. I will be doing a runway show for Vex fashions wearing one of infamous fetish model Kumi's latex dresses here! This is a big event and will be very exciting, so please buy a ticket if you can spare the funds, and if you do come, hunt me down and say hey.

So my 40th "bird day" bash was a blast and a half! Thank you all SO MUCH for your lovely comments! 20 friends attended, 2 clubs were visited (well, some of us went to a 3rd nightclub, Bondage-A-GoGo), 3 bands/performers played, the food and drink were awesome and the strippers were lots of fun. I'm considering working at the strip club, actually - the infamous Condor - but this decade of my life is going to have to be more drama-free, so I must be careful where I work, and with whom.
I also went off my meds right before I went to Vegas (not intentionally, I couldn't get refill without an appointment) and it's been a wild ride, but I'm using a natural alternative, so that should help offset some of the symptoms of the illness and the protracted withdrawal from decades of medications.
I took some crappy mug shots with my 'puter cam at home before and after the affair. (The stamp that Cafe du Nord gave us said RESTART, which I thought was quite symbolic.)
SG's fabulously talented StarsShine layered and colored my hair right before Winter Ball, which was also a hoot!

So my 40th birthday is tomorrow and people have asked me what I wanted and I tell them, cat toys, kitty litter, toilet paper and deodorant (becoming a little practical in my old age, purr-haps? Virgo ascendant rising to the surface?)!... What would also make me happy is if people bought my book-baby, and I know some of you did when it first came out, and for that I am grateful.
If you want to donate to a cat/animal shelter in my name (or ours, or just yours) that would also rock! My wishlist lynx (links) to the rescue house I volunteer for.
If there's anyone in the SF area who want to stop by Cafe du Nord on Wed. 2-6 for some amazing guitar performances (start around 9pm, $10) and then stumble out to the Condor for lap dances ($5 to get in but I have some passes) you're more than welcome! I can only have 10 people at my table for dinner and that looks pretty full, but there are tables all over the club for food and cocktails and it's a really nice venue. Reply if you're interested and/or want more info. It would be great to see you there!
(If you look closely in the 3rd to last pic you can se my newish dermal anchor piercing on my sternum.)
And stop reading blogs, you bloghead! Get out and VOTE! This country needs an overhaul!
