TONIGHT, Caturday, 7:00-10:00pm at Blow Salon, 2112 Berkeley Way, Berkeley:
Cat Scratch Fever is opening! miao!!
I'll be showing with 4 other artists.
No cover, complimentary food and drinks, and live music!

If you love Manuls (Pallas' Cats), sand cats, tigers, petite feline familiars, dark art, adorable art, and all-around good art, please come.

Clayton has his Cat-thulu painting on display, and Sergey Udovichenko, the Ukranian artist who flew in from Israel to paint my Bast temple murals, will be featured! I cat believe I'm going to be showing alongside him; it is truly an honor.

I will be featuring just-finished canvases as well as older paintings and b&w photographs of my Siamese twin, Isis. miao!!

^ Here, I'm standing in front of my "mew" acrylics at Synchro MG: STYLISH MADNESS Fashion, Arts & Music Immersion! ^ (Also MC'ed the event and modeled jewelry by Tensei TheGrotesque Sugahara but that's another, somewhat insane, journal entry. wink)

Will fill you in on other events of interest, as well as my travels, recent happenings in cat culture, and my encounter with Barbara Eden...soon!

Bay Area music lovers, PLEASE COME to my CD release show for PROTEA, Going Forth By Night~*
tomorrow evening!

Time
Monday, August 8 ยท 6:00pm - 9:00pm
________________________________
Location
Om Shan Tea in San Francisco.

More Info
The release event for PROTEA's 2nd full-length album, Going Forth By Night, will be held on Monday 8-8 at Oshan Anand's gorgeous, intimate, conveniently situated urban tea oasis, Om Shan Tea.

The performance itself is from 7 to 8 pm, and festivities last until 9 pm, ending in a timely manner for those who wish to attend Death Guild.

There will be belly dancing!
Isa Shisha will be accompanying musicians Serena Toxicat and tara ntula.
And as soon as confirmed we'll announce Joey D'Kaye on theremin.
Kat Karsecs will be playing (gu zheng and possibly other stringed instrument/s).
Our maat is on the album but can't fly in from Boston, as his schedule will not permit. Purrhaps I'll have an event there. I found him searching AE deity names on here and could not have been more pleased with the result. He's a great sentient being and amazing drone artist and mastering engineer who teaches at Harvard. I was just looking for like-minded SG f(r)iends!
http://www.facebook.com/Proteamusic
http://www.reverbnation.com/protea

NO COVER!
There is typically a $5 per guest minimum for the delicious, organic dishes both savory and sweet, and, of course, tea service.

Going Forth By Night, Protea's latest Ancient Egyptian-themed album, will be available on CD in glossy digipak packaging embellished with exquisite artwork by Ayda Meisami.

You will surely be enchanted by the atmosphere and strong sense of community at this gem of a tea house.
I'm really pleased to have secured this venue for our release event.

233 14th St between Mission & S. Van Ness, San Francisco.

First, happy Caturday. miao!!

Went to Peaches Christ and met Apollonia! Just winding down from the show <--worth the click.
"Put on your purple paisley tonight (Friday) at Peaches Christ's screening of Prince's Purple Rain. The film is accompanied by a Q&A session with Purple Rain co-star Apollonia. Peaches, voted 2010 Best Drag Queen by SF Weekly readers, warns that Castro Theatre will implode from "the loudest, craziest, most rockin' event" of the year."

See more about my night below!

In more pedestrian news, I finally got an SG Facebook page up if anyone wants to visit and "like" it. smile
I'm not the most active of SG's, but it's not a bad idea to have a Facebook presence, I suppose!
FB is going to go the way of Myspace pretty soon, anyway, so why not let the page have its day? ooo aaa

Lots of comps and collaborations with other musicians to report...

For now: The vocals and lyrics I contributed to Geodesic ripened (very quickly!) into a song called Hybrid Fruit about foot fetishes.

Please check out Mourning for the Diseased, too! The album in question is Anathemic in Absent Minor. My friend and world renowned throat singer, Soriah, and I contributed tracks to None Not Nuller than Nihil. My vocal was derived from my work in the King's Chamber of Khufu. I also recorded a(n exclusive) vocal track for The Spark!
Enjoy, unless you're afraid of ghosts... But I think the spirits mainly chimed in on tracks 7 and 17.

I'm credited as Protea, Serena Toxicat, or both. Protea is my main music project/band, and Serena Toxicat is my artist's name, which has pretty much become my everyday name.

Also acted in a feature length film by James Leon called Dropping Like Flies opposite the legendary Ms. Gitane Demone. Gitane was truly the "Madonna" of the deathrock scene back in the day, and is still going as half of the Crystelles, a band she formed with her daughter.
My role was Queen of the Scene, and man is she a bitch!

^ Gitane, James, me^

Went to the Castro Theatre dressed as Queen of the Scene for the Purple Rain screening tonight (last night?), black Siouxsie/Gossamer wig, pvc dress and all.
Met some hot grrls! ARRR!!!

Will post the pics with Apollonia when I get them.

My dominatrix website is up! *whoosh* *crack* It's free to peruse the galleries and comment on the blog. I'd love to hear from you!

Well, beddybye thyme for ThoraZine.

So I'm still here. No point leaving; either I log on or log off. ooo aaa
Anyone in the LA area? I'm going back to the Cat House in Rosamond this weekend for the Twilight Tour. There are 70 wild felines -- many endangered -- who need our support.
This conservation center is in the desert, so pretty far from the Hollywood action, but we'll be driving in for clubbing or whatever's going on, so message me if you want to meet up there instead, and do share any news of goth, fetish, artsy, filmic, cool/odd/fun happenings. Eventually (sooner than later) I want to have an album release party in SoCal.

promo video for a worthy cause--> Music For The Rising Sun Japan benefit album - Part 5, with samples.
One minor correction: it says the bardo of the experiencing of reality by starchasm and protea, but it is just STARCHASM. The Protea song is on part 8. I'm in both projects. Mitsuo Unno (from Mishima-shi, Shizuoka, Japan) and I are Starchasm
You can see/hear parts 1-4, as well, and the rest will be posted in due time.
Everyone did such an amazing job - really heartfelt, well-executed pieces.

Not sure why they used the Japanese military flag for the artwork. eeek

Anyhoo,
me0w!

Anyone in the LA area? I'm going away for a couple days to the Cat House in Rosamond to try to facilitate my recovery.
I understand it's pretty far from the Hollywood action, but hey - there are 70 wild cats.
So message me if you want to meet up! We'll be there this (Friday) morning/afternoon.

MARCH 15, 2011 @ 02:32 PM

So, I'm very concerned about my friend Mitsuo Unno in Shizuoka, even though he and his family are (fortunately!) not injured...but they are trapped in the house, no candles, no stable electricity, no food in the stores...and it's not a great idea for them to venture out, anyway, because of the radiation risks.
We have a music project called STARCHASM that he is really attached to and working on every day. Here are some images that he put together. I will make this blog public so he can view it. And if you can send healing energy or good thoughts, that would be awesome. At least that works at a distance.

If you're in a band/project, you can contribute, too.

Mitsuo's FB profile. Add him and show your support. He really appreciates it and welcomes all positive comments re. STARCHASM and his main project, Tribal Snake.

I also have some Japanese relatives on my Dad's side. I've met the ones who are here, but really have no idea where the older generations are and I'm trying to find out through other family members.

And I guess we're not out of the woods here in the SF Bay Area, so some + energy would be nice if you've got any to spare. smile

Thank you for your support.

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY, March 8! And a joyous Mardi Gras!

Isis, my Siamese twin of 15 years thanks Jozsef, Zode and catdad for their support.
Vet bills are expensive when a kitty is this sick, and they purr-chased ToxiCatbox sets and a CD. (I know that's not why they bought them, but it is an added benefit. smile)
So... kiss kiss kiss
