Autumn weather makes me feel like I'm losing my mind. It feels like my whole life is careening towards some sort of thunderstorm ending, a fiery car crash in the driving rain. Time to listen to Bruce Springsteen on repeat and lock myself in my house.

Really? Autumn weather and smells always make me happy. The heat is past and Halloween is near.

Autumn is my favourite time of year. It's cool crisp days that demand the wearing of sweaters. It's piles of fallen leaves that lie invitingly on the streets, waiting for absent kicks by passers-by deep in thought. It's the long slants of late afternoon light coming at 4pm, urging folks to finish their day's work so they can rush home for a hot meal and a warm blanket.

Man, I love how everyone's coming over here to tell you how they love autumn and you're wrong. biggrin

Boring to you, maybe, but I've discovered that I am a total finance nerd. It's ridiculous; i'm going to have to give up any and all pretenses of being cool.

So, does that mean you have to pay your taxes at the end of the year? Like, you have to save up for taxes? Man, I would be in so many jails.

I'm sorry that you're feeling bummed on writing. You've a beautiful voice; I like it when you write things.

I had lunch with an old friend this weekend, and I was struck by how much I missed writing. Don't give it up!

(See, the bit where I talk like a psuedoinspirational poster is part of my accepting being uncool.)

Also, we're the opposite. I have a crippling horror at the prospect of spring; I want to hide inside and never open my curtains. Clearly, we should be fantastically rich, and swap houses every six months.

Fall for life.

Next Sunday is fine, and Delores is an even better idea.

Vitamin D? I gotta start taking it now or I have panics like what you describe.

Man, I think what's in my cupboard now is just Trader Joe's or what I can find at my local co-op.

And I usually eschew the fiery car crashes for bullets and muck, or simply dread.
