OpenOffice. It's free and just as good xxx

A good wanna write solution is Scrivener. It's designed to be a writer's tool, not an office workers tool. It's $45 US, but for what it does, I think it's more than worth it.

Yup... Open Office. I believe it also features some good compatibility with MSOffice files.

Why not use Google Docs? Free with your Gmail account and available from any computer/tablet/whatever with an internet connection. Easy sharing & collaboration built right in. Nothing to install or download.

i would just get a cracked ms office.
