Sadly as long as there is celebrity obsession there will be gossip magazines. And as much as I appreciate conveniences(?) as e-readers and such. I prefer a book in my hands. So I know what you feel.
I've been scared for a while that physical books will one day die out - and maybe they will everntually. I love ink and paper, and can't imagine a world where book-binding no longer occurs. But then I think of the art that David Hockney has created on his iPad. Is it a gimmick? Certainly. But maybe if books do die out, we'll just have to evolve and find another way to make writing books, and reading books beautiful, just as he has.
I feel the same way that you do about books. I never resold or returned anu books I bought at uini because I loved them all and knew I would read them again. My mom this past Christmas bought me a huge new collection of books and I am slowly but surely devouring them. I actually lend most of them back to her insisting that she read them! I love reading and always have and find it much easier to read a book than an e-book, etc. I mean I love movies and dvds too and technology of course but I refuse to read a book on the computer and some of my favourite books I know will never be made into DVDs and that makes them special.
Books are important.
One day someting will make technology go poof.
Where will all your paperless stuff be then?
Gone!
Ted Danson is funny! That is one oddball show.
Lot of fun!
I love the fact I can download PDFs to it, the fact it's so light which means I can buy books I normally wouldn't as they're too heavy to carry around. I love that the house is no longer filling up with books I'll never read again.
I hate that not all books are available on it. I hate that publishers don't seem to give any thought to layout or the user reading experience on a lot of books. I hate that I can only buy books from Amazon.
I do miss buying paper books as it's much more pleasurable to read a book than a Kindle, but the convenience of the Kindle will always win unless we get a bigger house.
That really sucks about your job. I can't believe you run an entire department but only get minimum wage.
Oh don't get me started on Bored To Death - I love it so so so much! Jason Schwartzman as Jonathan Ames reminds me so much of me! And I think it's one Danson's best ever roles.

I have hundreds of books, most of them reference, but I could not live without them. Lots of them are rare and no longer in print which is a huge shame.
Mrs Sticks and I have the same worry with books; our house is stuffed with them, and we just can't imagine a future where they don't exist and we have to buy everything digitally. I need that page turning, corner folding (yes, I'm one of those!), using a bus ticket as a bookmark, tutting at crumbs falling into the spine goodness you only get with print media.
Plus a £5.99 book dropped in the bath is far less expensive to replace.
+1 to pretty much everything. I have books everywhere at home and am in need of an additional bookshelf. I recently broke down and bought a nook for travel purposes as well. Since that purchase, I have added a handful of print books to my collection. What can I say; I like smelling the paper
