APRIL 3, 2011 @ 11:02 PM

Just finished working another amazing WonderCon out here in San Francisco. It was great to see some of my SG buddies from the West coast again and meet some of our California fanbase. You know, it is kind of funny that I live on the East coast yet see the West coast Suicide Girls a great deal more than the ones in my own area. I don't know why that is. I suppose that there are just more large -scale events out here on the West coast. Not to mention, that both of my current SG photographers are located on the West coast.

So anyway, the main reason that I come out to San Francisco around this time is for Bob. Of course we have fun working the convention but it also gives us time to catch up and spend time together. Here we are:

I have lots more random pics from the Con as well. I shall post a few of them tonight and then maybe some more throughout the week. I usually end up posting things on my website first...so check there if you are feeling impatient. wink

A bunch of us at the booth (Ridley, Maddigan, Nixon, me, and Bob:

Totally inappropriate...

Serious mustache (I really took this one for my assistant,. She loves a good 'stache.

Our Quidditch team will be unstoppable with these awesome (and giant!) new brooms.

Same Bobsauce and Squeak...different day:

If you are looking for more pics....then take a trip over to Bob's blog. She has lots more posted! smile

I just got a new tattoo yesterday!

Ta da!--->

This is actually my forth tattoo. It has been quite awhile since I've had any work done but this tattoo, in particular, was a long time coming. I've been reading X-Men comics for over half my life now (in case you are interested in the math...I started when I was 12 and I am now 28....turning 29 in just a few weeks).
I've been meaning to get the symbol...or some version of it...tattooed for a couple of years now and just never got around to it.

I did a video for my blog on Squeakmachine.com and decided to post it on here for you guys to see as well. (Just ignore the Suicide Girls promotion and whatnot...obviously, if you are on here, you are already a member...and very awesome, I might add!) wink

I was sick with a cold yesterday so I decided to play around with this program I downloaded awhile ago.
It is called the Magic Set Editor and you can find it here in case you want to try it out yourself. It is a template/program for making your own custom Magic: The Gathering cards. No good if you are a competitive player, obviously, but this can be a lot of fun for a casual player, like myself. wink

Here is a small sample of the cards I was working on:

[Note: Just realized I need to fix this card because apparently in the JK Rowling world...the word "Imperious" is spelled without the "o". ?? I can not imagine why this is. Did she think it makes it look cooler?]

Obviously, this card set is going to be Harry Potter themed. I'm not the biggest HP freak in the world but I do love Alan Rickman and also the story/characters lend themselves well to the MtG universe. So it is an easy and incredibly fun deck to create. I am going to end up with around 25-30 creature cards (all different, so I guess I could easily work this into EDH format if I wanted to). There are also a plethora of spells and enchantments to choose from...I'm actually having a tough time narrowing it down.
May even make some special lands too.

In an attempt to keep the "balance" of the game from being thrown off kilter, I made sure to base all of my cards off of existing MtG cards. (So there are no insane 20/20 creatures with Annihilate 5 that take only two mana to cast.) In effect, I should be able to play this deck against any normal deck without worrying about the issue of fairness.

If all goes well and I don't completely destroy my printer trying to get these little guys printed out, I may make some more themed decks! I'm thinking X-Men/Marvel, Buffy, maybe even famous Physicists (can't you just see Hawking as a 5/4 first strike creature with trample? hahah).

Psssss...Cherry just submitted a new set that will be hitting MR in early April. smile
It is my very first Multi set!! Yup, seven (or is it eight now?) years on this site and I have never once did a Multi set. Of course, it features my buddy and partner in geeky crime, Bob. (Check out her blog for a preview pic.)
Yay!! Actually, when the set goes up....ironically enough, I will be out in San Fran visiting Bob. How neat is that??

..............................................................................................

Also!
I wanted to bug you guys real quick about maybe hanging out with me this weekend. So those of you in the Philadelphia area should try to clear your schedules for Sunday (the 6th)! My Quidditch team is going to be practicing at the Silver Spring Park on Bath Rd in Bristol, PA. Practice starts at 1pm and goes until 5pm or 6pm. (depending on the weather and how tired we get.)
You don't need to bring anything; we have plenty of spare equipment. Also, we are looking to train up some fresh meat, so no prior experience is required either. Also, if you just want to come and hang out and watch, you can do that too. (There is a covered pavilion right off the field.)
After practice, we usually get food and then I think some of us are heading back to my place to play some Magic the Gathering.
It should be a lot of fun and we are desperate to find some new players so please....tell your friends!

Our Facebook page has a bit more info. smile

Happy Birthday Alan Rickman!!!

He just gets sexier with each passing year. wink

Speaking of which....I finally got a hold of one of the pictures that the BAM center took of me talking to him. Due to copyright violation and my promise to BAM, I can not post the picture here on SG. But!
I can link you to my blog where the image is posted.---->

Come see the ridiculous look on my face...

FEBRUARY 11, 2011 @ 11:25 AM

I had the most incredible day earlier this week. If life was an X-Box, I would have unlocked a most coveted achievement.
I got to meet, talk to, and, yes, even touch...Alan Rickman.

(I also got an autographed copy of Die Hard!)

Supporting theaters and the arts is important to me and so I will often sign up for membership programs to theaters that I plan to visit a lot. (You can do this with museums as well...it is totally worth it!) Aside from getting discounts and better seating to shows, many of these programs will throw parties and host special events for the members.
BAM is one of the best at doing this. They constantly out-do themselves to the point where I often end up donating more money to them because I feel guilty for accepting so much of their hospitality to their "Friends of BAM".

One of these special events ended up being a Die Hard screening with Alan Rickman there as a special guest. (He is the Chair person for the Friends of BAM program this year. See how awesome he is?) Of course, I absolutely had to go to it.

The day was great from the start. I ended up taking my friend (and my site assistant) Vanessa with me to the event. It seemed appropriate to ask her since Die Hard is one of her favorite movies. She loves Bruce, I love Alan.....you just can't beat that combination.
We had gotten up to NYC much earlier than we had planned so we went out to eat with my friend Anna. Later, we returned to the theater to wait for them to start letting people in.
Fortunately, we didn't have to wait long. They started letting people sit down in the theater well before the start time. Since we were so early, we grabbed front row seats. Not the most ideal seating for watching the movie but it was prime seating for the Q&A afterward.
The Q&A for this event was a vast improvement over the Artist Talk that I had been to last month. It was no fault of Mr. Rickman's or his co-stars of course...the interviewer for that event was just awful. His questions were longwinded and almost nonsensical. He was trying terribly hard to be clever but ended up just droning on and on. I think that if you timed how long each person got to talk, he would have been the winner by a landslide. I was very happy they did not use him but instead choose a delightful, soft-spoken young woman who asked questions that were quick and to the point. This allowed for maximum Alan Rickman speaking time.
Halfway through the Q&A she allowed the audience to raise hands and ask questions. I have to be honest, I go to a LOT of panels, artist talks, etc...and I never ever ever ask questions. I don't know what came over me, but I just had to ask Alan Rickman.
I kept raising my hand, hoping to be called, but for some reason the interviewer would not pick me! She would scour the room looking for another person to call on besides me. Finally, (and this part is awesome so pay attention) Alan Friggin Rickman (yup, he just earned "Friggin" as a middle name; a high achievement in my book) looked right at me, motioned to me with his hand and said; "That girl has had her hand up for awhile, why don't you call on her?"
I was positively elated and taken aback. Alan Rickman called on me. Perhaps without knowing it, he even stood up for the overlooked underdog. (Where were you in High School, Mr. Rickman? Hahaha) Well, this was all well and good but it made asking him a question about a thousand times harder. My head was spinning and he was looking right at me. Somehow I managed to muster the courage to speak and did so rather smoothly I might add! I asked him how he had began his relationship with BAM and how he enjoys his long stays in New York. His answer surprised me when he admitted to being a patron first and really falling in love with the space (stage area). He also said that New York is like a second home to him. (How lucky that is for me!)

After the Q&A we all headed up to the reception area for drinks and food. I was delighted to find out that Mr. Rickman would be joining in on the party. Poor guy, he really couldn't walk around too far though. He ended up getting stuck in one corner of the room as people took turns approaching him and showering him with (well deserved) words of kindness. Vanessa and I were not standing very far from where he was and I thought that I should maybe go over and give him my compliments for all the great work he has been doing at BAM. After downing a glass of red wine (which is a lot of alcohol for me, as I hardly ever drink) I made my way over to where he was standing.
I stood off to the side a bit and waited until those he had been talking with to finish speaking. After they had left, more people immediately rushed in to speak with him. This continued this way for quite awhile. Apparently, you had to act fast if you were going to get any time with him. Well, interrupting and being pushy is just not in my nature, so here I was again, constantly getting overlooked. (A pretty enormous feat for someone with pink hair, I might add!)
Again, Alan Friggin Rickman to the rescue!
I don't know whether he just felt bad that I had been standing there for awhile or perhaps noticed that people kept jumping in ahead of me (story of my life!), but he finally turned right to me and took my hand to shake it. Damn you, Alan. You caught me off guard again! I stammered a tad bit through my conversation with him. After all, here I am face to face with my most favorite actor...and I touched him! (He has really nice hands, by the way. I was slightly embarrassed to be touching his with mine as I have been taking aerial silks classes lately and the silks really callous your hands.) I thanked him for all the work he has done with BAM as of late and told him that I hope he would continue his relationship with them...maybe do some more plays or events there. He said he was definitely open to the possibility but has nothing concrete planned as of now. He was very warm and kind. A truly wonderful person. I shook his hand once more before telling him simply, "You're the best."

Since that night, I have been on an absolute high. I keep thinking back to that day's events and it makes me smile. If you had read my blog a few posts back, you may remember the trepidation I felt as far as actually meeting Alan Rickman goes. I have to say, I was silly for thinking he would be mean or snarky with me. He was very sweet and I really should have thanked him for his efforts in ensuring that I was not overlooked and giving me a chance to speak with him twice that evening. I could not have had a better experience and I will remember that day for all times.

Vanessa and I at the BAM reception (thanks to the BAM photographers for taking this image!)...

I took these pics of Mr. Rickman while at the Q&A. I hope he doesn't mind me posting them! (I think he looks rather cute in them though.) I took them quickly when he first sat down so as not to be rude during the talk. smile

By the way, I know that one of the BAM photographers was taking pictures while I was talking to Alan Rickman. I would love to know how to get ahold of these images. If anyone knows the BAM photography staff, could you please point me in their direction?

Last night was the best night of my life.

Okay...I may still be coming down from my fan-girl high right now but last night was pretty friggin awesome!
I ventured up to the BAM Harvey theater in Brooklyn yesterday (in a snow storm, mind you) to see Alan Rickman perform in the play John Gabriel Borkman. I know....Alan Rickman....acting on stage...at the BAM center! It was too good to be true when I found out about it a few months ago. (And thank goodness I am a fan of the theater and keep tabs on upcoming shows...lest I may never have found out about it at all.)
Thank goodness also that I donate to theaters and sign up for their membership programs so that I can get choice seating. I managed to get front row seats to the play last night. Front row seats at the Harvey Theater (like many small theaters) are right on the stage. This puts you within mere feet of the props and...best of all...the actors.
Before I regress into my "creeper" mode and make a total ass of myself...let me first say that the play was absolutely amazing. It is a revival of the 1896 play written by Henrik Ibsen...the famous Norwegian playwright. I have not had a chance to read the original play (you can download it here if you like) but the adaptation was quite good on its own. The caliber of all the actors performing in it could have produced nothing less than perfection. Fiona Shaw puts so much emotion into her acting that you truly feel the need to get up out of your seat and console her at times.
And then there was Alan Rickman....
*creeper mode commencing*
I must confess that although I was absolutely delighted to get front row seats, I became quite nervous when it actually came time to sit there with Alan Rickman so close to me. I suppose that in my head, I did not imagine the actors would come so close to the audience. Although I lust after Mr. Rickman and the mere thought of him warms my heart (and also my loins)...being that close to him is actually quite intimidating. He has an air about him that could be described as stoic and maybe even a tad bit superior. For this reason, I am terrified to actually ever meet him or come face to face with him. I have this horrible feeling that he would say something mean and I would cry and it would be a very bad day indeed.
But I do like to look at him from a safe distance....and listen....oh yes...I could listen to that man read the phone book for an eternity.
Seeing and hearing him in person and at such close proximity is absolutely breathtaking. I still can't believe it! I think back to last night and I get a tingling sensation all over my body.
I have a few images to give you an idea of how close I was to him. I would never do something as rude or awful as try to take pictures during the performance but I did take some before and after. (I could not resist!)
The theater:

I took a picture of my feet on the stage to give you an idea of how close the front row is to the props and actors.

And the cast at the very end:

There were also a few famous actors in the audience as well. Most notably, Sigourney Weaver was sitting only a few rows behind me. She looks amazing, by the way. She passed by me in the lobby...and in person she is just so incredibly striking...and tall! I hope I look that good when I'm in my 60's.

Only a few more days and I get to see Alan Rickman again! That's right, I have tickets to the Sunday production as well. Errrr....and also tickets to another showing in February.
What can I say?
I love Alan Rickman.
It's my thing...let it go, okay?

~*~Random post~*~

It has been a busy and quite hectic holiday season. Even more so than usual for me...if that is even possible.
My grandmother was unable to host Christmas at her house this year because she is having her kitchen remodeled. So the responsibility was instead passed on to me. Note to future homeowners: If you do not enjoy hosting family dinners, look for a house with little to no dining room space. wink

As you may know from reading some of my previous blog posts, I do have some experience at hosting large family dinners. Christmas was to be no exception and I had to plan a formal, sit-down dinner for sixteen people.
Yes, sixteen.

It did not go quite as smoothly as Thanksgiving or some of my past dinners. But then, this was my first time doing Christmas and because of gift exchanging, family traditions, and whatnot...you end up dealing with more time constraints. Dinner was, regrettably, late. Though my family did not seem to mind, my perfectionist self was very displeased. I can only strive to do it better next time.

My table decor and place settings were not as elaborate as I had hoped for. But time simply had gotten away from me. I ended up making more simplistic name tags than the ones I used for Thanksgiving.

In case you are wondering....this is what my dining room looks like with sixteen people seated. (I wish I had gotten a better angle, or you'd be able to see a few of my cousins that are missing in the photo.)

Here is a quick picture I snapped of the front of the living room where my tree is set up.

(It is still up too! My boyfriend is incredibly nostalgic and getting him to part with the tree is one of the most difficult tasks I face each year.)

For Christmas this year, I ended up buying John (my boyfriend) a pet snake. To be honest...I wasn't even sure he would want a pet snake. I knew that he seemed to really be keen on snakes but, other than his small collection of Beanie Baby snakes, I had never seen him hold one. I wasn't sure if it would be something he would want or if he would prefer to love snakes....errr...from afar.
Turns out, he really loved the snake! He was completely surprised and just head-over-heels for it. He named the snake Mr. Hiss.
Mr. Hiss is a baby Rosy Boa, by the way. I once had a King Snake when I was a child and I have to admit, Mr. Hiss is a lot more calm and docile than my old one.
He is pretty cute too:

Here is his little set-up:

Now for New Year's Eve we ended up not making plans until...well....that very day! Thankfully, I didn't have to host the party. I just had to show up!
John and I picked up Vanessa and went over to a friend's house.

Now Vanessa and I are always the life of the party. When there is fun to be had, we get CRRRRAAAAZZYY!!!

(yes, we are indeed knitting)

I also had to post this pic because it is the first shot I have of Vanessa where she isn't doing something crazy. She is just sort of smiling for the camera. smile

In recent news! (Hope you guys are still hanging in there! Sorry...it's a long post.)

A friend of mine was just made an official SG today. She seemed to be on the fence about joining for awhile and then Radeo and a bunch of other SG's at Philly ComicCon encouraged her to sign up. She submitted a set to Member Review shortly after and now she is up on the site! Yay!
Go check out my friend Smurfasaur in her first official set Pink Nouveau. (I like how the name of the set is somewhat equivocal.)

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I apologize for ending on a sad note...but it wouldn't feel right for me not to mention it.

I'm sure that some of you already know but a friend of mine and of Suicide Girls in general has passed away.
Some of you who have been on SG for awhile may know him as theringleader...some of you who were closer to him know him as Kevin.
He ran the X-Sanguin/ZDN Party and booth at San Diego Comic Con every year. In fact, without his generosity, Suicide Girls would not have had the pleasure of attending and playing a prominent role each year at SDCC.

I did not know him as well as some of you but I can honestly say that he was one of the first (if not the absolute first) people to really make me feel welcome in the SG booth at Comic Con. I had attended Comic Con for a few years before deciding to help out in the Suicide Girl's booth. Although I was not new to the site, I was new to working conventions and having actual human contact with the other girls. The other girls already knew each other so well and I resorted to being my normal quiet, shy self. Kevin would always make the effort to talk to me....if I didn't have a chair, he would always lend me a knee...and he always appreciated my little quirks (like my love for tracking money on WheresGeorge). We had a lot of private jokes together and I looked forward to seeing him every year.

I'm going to miss him a lot. frown Truth be told, I'm kind of glad I decided not to go to Comic Con this year. It would be weird not seeing him there.

JANUARY 1, 2011 @ 08:52 PM

I did not get one single hit on WheresGeorge the entire month of December! I have never gone that long without getting a hit!

Darn it people, track your money!! tongue

*psssss* My bills look like this:

[Update! - Jan 4th] Got a hit (finally!) today. Yay! I never went that long without getting one. tongue

And to those of you who keep asking whether it is illegal to mark the bills. Nope. It is not. As long as you are not making them completely unusable or covering up series numbers and dates (which I did via Photoshop only to prevent "false hits"), you will not go to jail for writing on bills. smile
