Ok, new blog then. smile Has anyone heard about the protests that the Palestinian city of Ramallah, in the West Bank, wanting to do a protest on behalf of the citizens of Egypt??
Support Egypt from Ramallah
Thoughts? Feelings?

Personally I have always been a bit upset with Israel for their occupation mostly because they get such overwhelming support...yes, yes, both places have done crappy things, but I typically feel a bit more sympathetic towards Palestine.

not your fault regarding the job search. and what really sucks is that I've looked at branching out. I've applied for jobs requiring an Associates degree to no avail. right now, things seem to be that without contacts and an exact match, you're out of luck. and since I don't have contacts (my family doesn't have pull in any industry), I'm screwed.

as for the weather....a little chilly. but no snow yet....so unusual for upstate NY!

Not quite the blog I was expecting.

As to the question: the Palestinians have always enjoyed broad support throughout the Arab world, it's only natural that they'd support Egyptian protesters, especially if the popular elected Egyptian government (should such a thing come to pass) would be less friendly towards Israel than the Mubarak regime [a virtual certainty].

And, note, I'm no fan of Israel (politically), but if there is one country that stands to lose, and lose big, as a result of democratic reforms and the "Arab-Spring," it's Israel. They have every right to be nervous.

Unfortunately, history tells us, when Israel gets nervous, shitty things happen [and most often to the Palestinians].

Re: your comment on my blog,

Yeah it's one of those types of courses. After a week and a half I found myself wondering what the requirements were for instructing one of these courses, if my instructor qualified. Work study isn't really an option as whatever I earn will go to paying my education; I live alone and have bills, so I need a "real life" kind of job, heh. Besides, I've already taken out a loan and have financial aid to cover my education. And my school has a database for students to search for available jobs, but they don't do any placement. My work experience is in retail and if I do another retail job I would totally want to kill myself; I'm good at it but I hate it with a fiery passion.

I think it is great. Not sure how much it will effect what happens in Egypt but it is a great sign of support.

Personally, I think Israel should negotiate a land/border settlement and Palestine should be a state. Anyway, I am very curious to see how this all plays out.

The Palestinains are fooled again... They are used as the excuse for everything in the Arab world and it always ends in them suffering.
Once the y ran towards Egypt from the ISraelis and the Egyptians put them into concentration camps

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

...the way the British invented concentration camps in their war in South Africa and not termination camps

They Palestinains did not get out till the Israelis took those territories.
When Saddam Hussein conquered Kuwait, he said that he did so to free Palestine. They collaborated with him and when Iraq was pushed out of the country they started dissapearing in bloody nights. And the rockets going from Iraq towards Israel mainly hit Palestinian living areas - while they cheered the bombardment.
King Huissein of Jordany saw that the mayors of the occupied territories were in talks with the Israeli and as most of the British Protectorate Palestine is now Jordania he gave the territories in a grand gesture not to the Palestine people but to the PLO - running the peace process aground.

I could continue the list and fill in more details but it all boils down to the Arabian countries claiming the best of the Palestinian people and the Palestinian people being grateful for being used.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

The media hype about the Arab Spring is distorting the whole picture. When they had finally "won" in Egypt, some Arabian friends of mine had been celebrating the victory while I pointed out that the power had just been handed over to the military and nothing had been won. Now I see myself corrected... Reports of Amnesty International now show that the attrocities are worse than before but at least the Egyptians are not fooled as easily as the palestinains are fooled by their "friends".

From Israel's standpoint, they are simply reclaiming their land from almost 2500 years of occupation. As a First Nations Person, you might be able to appreciate that aspiration. Lets hope the native people here, don't have to wait that long.

To give perhaps more perspective... during Islamic rule in their own lands, Jews were 2nd class citizens with no rights and often subject to persecution. Muhammad himself, would exterminate two enclaves of Jews in Medina - killing all the men and enslaving all the women and children - soley because they didn't acknowledge him as The Prophet. Through most of Islamic Rule in the Middle-East, Jews would be denied land ownership and personal wealth... often used as slave or servant labor... and occasionally subject to mass massacres. Jewish temples and other holy sites that had been built during the golden age of Israel and during the Judean Era, were defiled and appropriated by the Muslims, and Jews were even denied access to their own Temple Mount. Though there were occasionally insincere gestures of "tolerance"... Jews, for the most part, suffered atrociously under Islamic Rule. And the Quran itself, describes Jews as "fallen from the covenant," and therefore to be reviled. Given this kind of history, if I were an Israeli, I'd be a hard-ass too.

And historically... there has never been a political or national entity called Palestine. Since the Jewish era the region has always been under some form of foreign occupation. The Emperor Hadrian renamed Judea Palestine during his initiation of the Diaspora to insult the Judeans... but it has always remained a generic regional reference something like uh, say "Sinai" or "Middle East"... since.

In truth... everywhere Islam is, they got there through genocide - an estimated 250,000,000 people put to the sword for their refusal to submit to Islam (slightly less than the genocides at the hands of Christians). And for all their claims of invention... the "0"... algebra... astronomy... the telescope... henna... their numbers system... were all uh, "assimilated" from the rape of India (a place particularly close to my heart) - even their written language is derived from a cursive form of Sanskrit. In India alone... 80,000,000 people would be exterminated, temples destroyed, vast amounts of wealth pillaged... and they would completely eradicate Buddhism in India and Bactria (present day Afghanistan). Again all men would be exterminated... and the women and children enslaved (except for those who chose suicide to avoid capture). An irony here is the wives of the slain, would be forced into sexual slavery to the very men who murdered their husbands... and this remained true, throughout all of Islam's conquests.

I give you...

Islamic Conquest Of India

and...

Islam - The Religion Of Peace - Myths Of Islam

And by the tenets of their own Quran, Hadith, Suryas etc... Muslims are commanded to complete the task of world extermination of all that is not Islam.

Just sayin...
