This has been quite the weekend. Firstly, I was kicked out of my house..so now I'm on a super hunt for a new place. I'm interested in a communal living situation and I've been looking into group houses in North Carolina..but I'm keeping all of my options open. Know any good communes? (heh.)

I've been working quite a bit, which gives me a considerably large amount of time for reading. I've been reading Hunter S. Thompson's coverage of the 1971 presidential campaign. It's wonderful..very funny..

I don't feel like typing too much more, but, all is well.

keep it real, suicideworld.

I'm in Raleigh, NC. Don't know of any communal options immediately available in the area, but I'll keep an ear out in case the capital is where you're looking. I'll also consider you a madwoman if that's the case, but hey, your decisions are your own. wink

Good luck,

Twin Oaks in Virginia is nice, but I think it's sort of a lengthy thing to get in. Good luck!

Bummer about the living arrangements; good luck finding new digs. Still a few communes in this neighborhood, but we're a little out of your timezone.
"...Campaign Trail" is a masterpiece! Hell, Hunter was a masterpiece. If you get a chance, watch "Buy the Ticket, Take the Ride". Lots of footage of Hunter, and interviews from those years.

You're leaving NYC?
I didn't see that coming!
You should look into Vermont.
I'll bet there are some cool community situations like that.
It's definitely a cool state generally.
Lots of artists and community theater and all that.

I'm sorry to hear about that! Do you have friends you can bunk in with, until you find a new situation?

I don't think a commune is the answer . . . there was a big commune in the town in Vermont, where I built a vacation home years ago. It looked fine on the surface , , but it appeared that the women pretty much gave up personal freedoms, and did what they were told to do. I just don't see you in that role. They were also expected to produce children to expand the commune.

I love North Carolina . . wish I could move there. I understand things are booming around the Raleigh-Durham area.

Good luck to you sweetie! I'm sure things will turn out well for you!

Keep us posted!

I forgot to mention . . . I recently read "Hells Angels - A Strange and Terrible Saga" by Hunter S Thompson.

I also read articles by him in Rolling Stone and Playboy years ago.

He was one of a kind!

Sorry about the house thing. That's a bummer. I'm reading a book right now called "The Joke's Over" by Ralph Stedman who was the guy that did all the crazy illustrations for Hunter S Thompson and it just sort of details his time with Thompson over the 30-some years that they knew each other. It's pretty cool and it's actually gotten me interested in reading the very book that you're reading, so I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying that one as well! smile
