Just thought I'd let everybody know that my apartment is unbearably HOT!
Nakedness feels like a wool blanket right now. Movement is like a wave of sweat. Decisions are clouded by my overheating brain. Everything is frustrating. I don't want to eat.

I have an A/C that runs my power bill through the roof and when we leave it on for over three hours is the only time we feel any sense of relief but once we turn it off it's as if the apartment transforms back into a sweltering heat box.
Help??

Unfortunately you may just have to grin and bear it. Sounds pretty similar to my situation so I just do my best not to be home when it is excruciating and when I am, plant a tower fan on either side of me!
It'll be ok! smile

Urg thats hell. I used to live in a town with insane humidity and heat and it literally smothers you.
Even taking 4 showers a day didnt help. Hope it cools down soon.

I hope it cools down for you. Do you have any fans to get the air to circulate?

When it was brutal for me one summer, I would get $1 bags of ice and put bowls of them behind some fan I had making the air even cooler.

Also getting out electric shut off in college taught me that a really cold shower makes you impervious to hear for about an hour.

cold shower or get a big bucket of ice water and put your feet in it. i live in an old apt. building with no AC, that seems to help me when it gets so hot.

Great ideas guys, thanks! BetteJean, we actually had a fan but my boyfriend accidentally tilted it too far towards his head in desperation and cracked it so the cover couldn't stay on so we were using it for a bit like that (Just avoided getting sliced to our best ability) but last night (on the wine, lol) I cut my arm on the blades and Jesse thought it would be a great idea to see if anything would happen if he punched the blades (once again I say, on the wine). His fist got cut pretty badly and needless to say the fan was destrpyed this time! lol we'll have to grin and bear it. smile

killary's got the greatest idea I've heard - nice. We always suffered when we rented, as apartment buildings are rarely a) insulated well b) designed for air circulation, and c) setup to screw the tenants in anyway possible.

I put in a whole house fan shortly after we bought our place and I've loved it ever since. Hope you can find relief sometime soon - get some window fans (the box-fit-in-the-opening kind) - cheap and a relief in the night.
