Autechre was great. They played in total darkness. I wish more electronic acts would do this. I don't understand why people crowd the front and watch the stage during laptop-core shows. Nothing to look at, except some dude who's possibly just checking his email. They only played for an hour, though, which was sucky.

The Ministry show was good too. Came in halfway through Meshuggah's set, which I enjoyed more than expected. But oh god Wayne "Static" is a fucking RETARD!!! Al brought him on stage for So What during the encore, and he didn't know the goddamn words!!! He had a little piece of paper in his hand, and still fucked it up. Al clearly wanted him to go off and do some growly vocal stuff, but he just stood there like a complete noob, cheesing and smiling, not knowing what to do. GAH I wanted to slap that boy. If I had a drink in my hand at that moment, it would've gone straight to his head. Who doesn't fucking know the words to So What???!!!! Especially someone who tries so hard to ride the coattails of the industrial scene... Anyone in the audience would have done a better job. I'm still worked up over it.

Reminder to self: please wear earplugs. Still ringing.

The last time Ministry were in NYC this is the lesson I also learned. Usually I make it out of shows with my hearing pretty much in tact, but that last time I couldn't hear clear out of my left ear for almost two days ... seriously started to think it was going to be permanent.

I actually have a permanent tinnitus for several years now and i indeed think that i got it from going to too many loud shows. Some people get mad over the tinnitus, but it doesn't bother me much. I forget about it most of the time. I am also always carrying earplugs with me now and decide on the show if i put them in or not.

Did you catch Autechre, hard to believe almost three years ago, in '05 @ (the the king) the el rey? I flew in and stayed with friends (I was living in Denver at the time which was left off the tour) and it was worth every cent; one of the best shows I've ever seen.
