Coralee and I marched with Occupy Chicago on Saturday. Here are some pictures I took:

It felt good to be a part of something. Will our presence there make a difference? Probably not. But it's more likely to make a difference than by sitting on my ass at home complaining.

I find it unconscionable that the protesters were able to camp in Grant Park for a whopping two hours before Chicago's Finest swept them all away to jail. My tax dollars pay for that public park, and the right to assemble still exists even in Chicago, does it not?

*money is not speech* puts it very well ! !

You must understand, the police must move them out now - no money in the budget to watch what *the people* might do in the park, all hours of the day ! Draconian policy is all blamed on budget cutting - the key to a conservative future. The policies that caused the problem - are proposed as the solution. Criticize Obama for not being able to fix things quickly enough - as they hamstring his efforts - every step of the way. Millions are permanently excluded from "their American dream". I guess we have the freedom that we demand - no demand and freedoms disappear.

I've stood locally with Occupy CoMo (Columbia, MO). We're small, but persistent and being heard. We've been round-the-clock occupying the plaza in front of City Hall, and I have to say, the police have been great. No hassles, and they have made it clear that we have a right to protest there and if anyone hassles us we should not respond to them, but instead call 9-1-1 and they will be there right away to preserve our rights. Nice to see this attitude! Glad you're a part of the 99%!! kiss

Any more thoughts on Opeth's latest, now that it's been out a while?

It really grew on me. I went from liking one song and thinking one other was alright to loving several and only disliking one. (That one is Famine. With the flute. Just doesn't work for me.)
