If I am to remain here, it is time to move past certain childish aspects of this website. I'm not sure what it is that makes people think that it is okay to fuck with the lives of other people, repeatedly. Apparently some people's lives are more pathetic than I realised if this is the way in which they have to create their own fun.
This is gonna seem really sad, but I'm a person, and sometimes people like things that other people don't. As it happens I like musicals. I don't like your happy clappy bring the chorus in for no damn good reason musicals, but I like musicals that really use song to show pain. There's a song in the musical "Wicked" that really describes what I feel at this point in time. I'll spare you actually posting the song, but I'll quote a few of the lyrics.
"One more disaster I can add to my generous supply.
No good deed goes unpunished
No act of charity goes unresented

My road of good intentions led where such roads always lead

One question haunts and hurts, too much, too much to mention:
Was I really seeking good or just seeking attention?

Let that be my new years resolution. I'm done helping and feeling for people who do what people have done.

First of all, I was so moved by your previous blog that I was at a loss to express it without spending hours that I didn't have to formulate an adequate reply.
As it happens, I've been contemplating similar thoughts to the ones you expressed today after repeatedly putting in months or even years of effort into being a loyal friend only to be suddenly ignored because of some trivial misinterpretation of something I wrote. What's the point of investing countless hours carefully crafting compassionate emails only to be tossed aside like a free Android app that has lost its fascination?
I think the answer has two facets. That you are here because some people recognized that you're precious and cared illustrates the point rather powerfully. Do we want to mold ourselves to resemble those whose behaviour we find loathsome or do we nurture our humanity and compassion even though many people don't know who their friends are and can't believe that kindness can ever be offered without onerous strings attached? When someone shows that they don't appreciate generosity of spirit, it's time to walk away from that person, not from your own principles. The defect is theirs and not yours.
Finally, we are social beings and we can only be truly happy when we reach out to others and form meaningful connections and hopefully, lasting bonds. Labeling anything as selfish or altruistic is grade school logic because it's a false dichotomy.

I saw Wicked on a trip to NY in 2011 and liked, but i know you wasn't talking about your taste...
Don't let ungrateful people make you a bitter person... Just wiser.
