ladyexxa took this at when we were at the vancouver aquarium last week. she and i, we had quite a delightful time. my trip was fn incredible--so much incredible food, good time with friends, and beautiful weather. i bought a tonne of delicious, fancy-pants teas, some really nice accessories (a ganesh cameo pin and a circle scarf! woo!!) and took lots of photos, mostly thanks to vanessa art-directing me.

coming back to calgary has put me in the regular post-van funk. i've been fighting it by sewing & drawing a bunch, and planning for my move back to van! i hope to make the move by august....was pricing out different moving companies vs uhaul today. ugh i have to get my driver's license before then so i can drive a uhaul 10hours to van!! wait...driving a giant van that far still sounds terrifying!! at least i'm not bringing much stuff so shipping should be less than $1000!!

here's some delicious food we ate, at a jamaican restaurant no less:


food was a huge part of my tourism in vancouver: i hit up the eatery, foundation, veggie dim sum and had sushi about 100 times. here's part of our dim-sum crowd


my vancouver adventures even included getting puzzled by erotica at an unlicensed bar! good times for sure. they had one of the best drinks i've ever tasted--a greyhound that featured fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice! that shit was serious business




in other news, i made my first sale ! it's a heart that says 'fuck y'all' and i'm totally making one for myself too. i also picked up a few commissions. this makes me feel so good--it can get kind of discouraging sewing a bunch of shit and not getting any monetary reinforcement. i have about 20 more items to list on my etsy, but here's what i have up so far!







i love sewing; i feel like i've found my niche and it's an enjoyable way to spend my evenings (since i usually work during the day). and when i sew i usually watch stuff i've downloaded; today it was a few episodes of dexter.

do you have any movie/tv recommendations you can give me? keep in mind, i don't like romantic comedies or torture porn, but i'll check out pretty much anything else. oh, and nothing with subtitles please! i can either sew, or read the screen, but not both!

I so love Vancouver but it's been forever since I've been able to visit there. Sounds like you had a great time.

Personally, I'd be nervous taking a uhaul thru the mountains, very nervous. $1,000 to move to Van doesn't sound like too much. What about shipping some stuff by bus? or with friends? I just sent some stuff by bus to Saskatoon and it arrived 3 hours later and it was cheap.

I love jellyfish so much.

And you have hit upon one of the holy grails of cocktails. The downside is that regular greyhounds will now taste like shit.

I just saw Winter's Bone and was very impressed. It's up for a few Oscars but almost no one has seen it.

Went to the Aquarium for the first time since a child with Phoenix/Cherry/Voodou/GoGo a couple weeks ago, bought membership immediately. You come back nao and aquaphibian crew adventure time awaits! Keep up the good handshakes.
