it is not quite evening,
though the storm's rage
lays darkness over my bedroom.
i do not mind.
flickering candlelight,
a dismal film of grey
filtering through curtains
(diaphanous and black),
all that remains.
suddenly the rain maddens,
inflaming the wind.
the globe warms, her heart bleeds.
a bird trembles in it's nest.
i am delicately adjusting a skeleton's fingertips
when thunder strikes
as though every lion on earth
had roared
all at once.

from the city we crept into suburbia today
to fulfill a gluttonous desire for biscuits, apple-butter,
bacon, grits, gravy, fried apples, and the like.




you can take the girl outta the south,
but you can't take the love for southern cooking out of the girl.


otherwise, been rolling around naked in bed.
indulging in the soothing task of hand-sewing by candle-light




just letting my thoughts fill the room.
