It's be ages since I've been to a punk show or anything resembling, and I couldn't help grinning like an idiot from the time I got there until I left. Aside from the positive community energy that's prevalent in every show, I think it was mostly the sensation of being able to travel back into my 16 year old self for a few hours, moshing and flailing, sweating and screaming. It is like what many say--with a crowd of strangers all singing the same words, making the same movements--it was akin to going to Punk Rock Church.
Highlights:
- Running around in a circle pit like a maniac, getting punched and not feeling a thing
- Seeing the drummer from Anti-Flag move his drumset into the middle of the pit and play during their last song.
- Getting a security guard (who had a stunning resemblance to a pitbull) to finally smile after another concertgoer and I froze our gap-mouthed smiles and stared at him
- Telling a guy (who kept hitting on me) that I would, in fact, totally dance with him (hey, he was cute!) if he didnt just look like he just took a swim in the East River
- Singing "Stickin' in My Eye" with a huge man behind me as we both attempted to poke each others' eyes.
What a great show. Was anyone there last night? The Friday show?
Tonight, I'll be at Deadmau5! *WOMP WOMP*. Can't wait to see Excision and Feed Me too.

Your so lucky! I'm very jealous. I can't find any punk shows in December when I will be in NYC...do you know a good place to find some? Just message me if you do.much appreciated

I wish I had been there! There are two bands still very hing on my wish list to see live, purely for the connection between their music and my younger years: NoFX and Lagwagon.
For my friends and I Lagwagon formed the soundtrackt to our lives outside of our weekend hang out. In that bar it was always NoFX. They didn't play it very often but if you were paying attention when they did and mentioend it to the bar man: you got a free beer

Funny, Deadmau5 is playing on Pandora as I read this. I haven't seen him since 08, and I haven't seen NOFX since 2000 (I'm a geezer now) but now that I'm in NYC I have a feeling i'll get to play catch up
