I love rainy Sundays.

Rain is my Ambien. I slept in incredibly late with the boy today and it was sublime.

Now I have the heater turned up and I'm spending the rest of the day in my undies and socks. I went shopping yesterday and got all kinds of new stockings. Gotta keep those legs warm this winter. Silly webcam pics for you:

I started reading a new book and it's amazing but depressing.

It's called "Blowback: The Costs and Consequences of American Empire" by Chalmers Johnson. "Blowback" is a term created by the CIA to refer to unintended consequences of American actions abroad. The book basically analyzes America's global conduct and foreign relations during the Cold War and since. If you're an American and you've ever wondered why people from other countries dislike us--this book has plenty of answers. I feel like it's our responsibility as citizens to be aware and give input (through voting, protests, civil disobedience) on the actions of your representatives. To be honest, I'm generally totally and completely disgusted with our government. And like I said, it's all pretty depressing, but you know what a wise person once said--"Learn from your history or you are doomed to repeat it."

I'm so in love that it's ridiculous. My fiance is a really talented artist. I am so lucky--always surrounded by so much beauty and inspiration.

I've been pretty low-key lately, I have no earth-shattering news.
I finished another painting.

There's a small part of me that really wants to eat a pound of peanut butter cups just to say I did it. wink Reece's are my favorite, but I try not to eat a lot of sweets. I might need to make a ridiculous exception...

One of my best friends works at a Lush cosmetics store and she brought me two boxes filled with product--body butters, shampoo, lotions, hair gel, hair henna. I'm in cocoa butter heaven, this stuff is the best!

Something totally and completely random that's been on my mind lately:

I've always been interested in ghost towns. When I was a kid, my dad took me to a few old mining ghost towns in the deserts of Arizona. I really love old buildings; they have this quiet presence--as if someone or something is watching you. It's as if all the people and events that once occupied the place left an imprint.

So anyways, I was doing some internet browsing and reading and I stumbled upon a bunch of articles and Google map images of Ordos, China. A huge modern city that could house millions, yet only about a hundred live there. I read that they mysteriously continue to build and finish structures within despite the lack of occupants.

There were multiple theories on the whole phenomenon. My favorite is that the city is being built as a safe place, away from the coast where people can be moved to in case of a catastrophe. Or maybe a catastrophe is already being planned? Who knows. Maybe it is as boring as a "real estate bubble". It just doesn't really make a ton of sense why they would build a huge, modern city in basically the middle of nowhere. And it appears Ordos isn't the only modern ghost town in China. Some estimates put the number of empty homes at as many as 64 million, with up to 20 new cities being built every year in the country's vast swathes of free land. Kind of interesting, huh?

Confession: OK, don't judge. My boyfriend and I shamelessly watched the entire first season of motherfucking Sister Wives last night. If you're not familiar with horrible reality tv shows, it's a reality show about a polygamist family in Utah; one husband, 4 wives and like 20-some-kids. It was something I had always vowed I'd never watch, but Matt turned it on and it was like a car accident scene that I couldn't take my eyes off.
Part of me thinks, "These people are insane." A bigger part of me thinks, "They seem happy, who am I to judge." I just know that I would NOT be down to share my husband with 3 other bitches. What do you think? Could you handle four wives? Could you share your husband?

I got that silly cat mask from the dollar store. I love to hit up the dollar store once in a while, it's great for random treasures when you are poor. Ahh poverty... skull

Halloween's fun possibilities have been destroyed by work. Oh well. My boss said it wasn't too soon for zombie Amy Winehouse (hahah!), so we'll see if I feel like putting on zombie makeup at 4 am tomorrow...that's a big maybe. Oh well, there's always next year.

I was very lonely this past week. My fiance was in Wisconsin all week, tattooing clients. I finally got him back yesterday. Below is me on my way to pick him up from the airport. "Reunited and it feels so good." wink

In my boo's absence, I spent my time working like crazy, eating horrible little meals of things like fruit snacks (why do I always do this when left to my own devices? I swear I know how to cook), hanging out with my puppies, unashamedly watching a billion episodes of Felicity (real high quality girl tv), and painting of course. I finished up this one yesterday. You can see the complete version in my Watercolors album.

I shot a new set today at the Circle Bar in Santa Monica with Seahorse. Seahorse is such a cute guy, total gentleman and great photographer; I had so much fun today. Ladies, I definitely recommend working with him if you get the chance. smile

Well, in other news....I've been really happy lately. I have a decent job that I don't hate, that I am really good at. I'm engaged to a stone cold fox, who is the love of my life (and is my tattoo artist, so yeah, win-win). I have free time to do my own thing and time to paint and cook and bake. I'm a lucky girl.

I've been working out religiously at the gym by my house. I hurt my stupid knee a month ago, so now I'm paying the painful price of a sedentary lifestyle on the treadmill. Goddammit my thighs ache like fire.

Don't get me wrong, I like being healthy, working out and eating a good vegetarian diet...but the Wisconsin in me requires occasional, small amounts of beer. This month's favorites:

Pumpkin anything is an automatic win, right? I'd probably eat my car if you told me it was pumpkin flavored. Also, this Werewolf beer is badass, "Escaped from England." I love a good gimmick.

I've been a total kitchen nerd lately. After a few attempts, my pumpkin pie baking skills are at a ninja level. My boyfriend is obsessed with pumpkin pie. He ate 3/4s of a pie in one sitting last night; so I really can't make them quickly enough.

Life is pretty spectacular at the moment.

Despite the fact that I've been working crazy hours as usual. You know you work too much when it feels weird to not work overtime on a daily basis. I'm a workaholic dork basically.

I got tattooed last night. The legs are so painful; some spots are have a sharp stinging sensation. Someone once told me a story about a quadriplegic man who had the ability to "exit" his body when he was in an uncomfortable situation--like a trance in which he would mentally be somewhere else. I always try to channel that when I'm getting tattooed--focus on anything except the feeling. I like to listen to headphones, relax, and just let it happen; try to sleep if possible.

Hope everyone had a pleasant weekend. I have some photos, thoughts, stories, and things to share with you.

I have to admit that I have no idea what it is like to be bored. I've been working every...single..day..plus overtime on top of overtime for the past 4 weeks. You know how it is in this economy, gotta hustle that cash aka work at a computer until I'm pretty sure my eyes are going to bleed. I hope there's an end to this seemingly endless tunnel. I wish I could win the lottery or something.

Of course I can always find time to bake cookies! I made semi-sweet and white chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. They turned out really soft and yummy.

In other food related news, I had my first Indian meal. It was amazing, but I don't really even remember the names of the dishes I had, haha! I told the guy to give me a plate of vegetarian things. The mango yogurt drink was my favorite.

Thank you all so much for supporting In Daydreams and helping make me a SG. It was surreal and so awesome seeing myself on the front page this morning.

Some fun facts about this set:
-The Motley Crue t-shirt I'm wearing was stolen from an ex-boyfriend. He had payed $20 for it and bought it off some dude's back at Warped Tour. I haven't talked to him in years, I wonder if he'll see it. Well he's not getting that shirt back, I love that thing. wink
-The feather earrings I'm wearing were hand-made by one of my girlfriends. If you want a pair of your own, you can message her here.

I promised myself that I would not read the facebook comments about my set. But my sick curiosity was killing me and I had to look. It wasn't too bad; someone said "Yeah but her face is meh." Incidentally, his face was really "meh" and that made me laugh. Opinions are like assholes; everyone's got one. wink

In addition to getting naked on the internet, I've been eating yummy vegetarian food as usual. Thai noodles, so so so good...
