It is with the heaviest heart that I tell you all about the sudden and devastating passing of my little cat Matt.

We took him in as a tiny stray in the summer and had spent the last 8 months patiently nurturing and socializing him. Everyday he astounded us with his ability to change, trust and love. Everyday we loved him more and more.
There is something different about the love of an animal you have to gain one tiny millimeter at a time. He was at the point where he would sit on my lap and sleep on my pillow with me; such a long way from spitting and hissing from the back of a crate in the kitchen!

I can only hope that his passing to his next life was painless and that he felt no fear. I fed him Sunday morning at 5am and he trotted after me purring and affectionately cooing. He played with Icky. I slept a bit longer half waking several times to ask Scotty where Matt was and the last time I felt something very wrong and found him cold on the living room floor... as though he was just walking along and dropped. 2 weeks after his last round of kitten booster shots and a clean bill of health we are both in such shock.

Icky and B are depressed and mopey. My heart breaks for them. If you've lost a pet you understand the deep heartache that come with it. Pets, in my opinion, are the only ones we can truly love unconditionally.

I love you, Matty. I am so sorry. I miss you so very much.

I am sorry for your loss, the death of a beloved pet is always difficult - they are just such a big part of your life.

At least he had someone to love and care for him in the end. You gave him a much netter quality of life then he otherwise would've had.

"Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened." ~ Anatole France

So sorry for your loss. My mom lost some of her dogs due to old age and she was bummin' for awhile. Time is the only cure for the pain. I hope you feel better soon.

Oh no ... I am so sorry for your loss. It is so hard, the pain can't be described. Two of my pets died in december and january and it still feels so unreal. I agree with you when you say pets are the only ones we can love unconditionnally. All my thoughts are with you and your loves. x

I'm sorry, what a handsome fellow!
What you said in that last paragraph is so so true...it's that reason that always breaks my heart when I read the death of a pet.

Oh honey, I am so very sorry. The sudden passings are the most terrifying for us because we saw them happy and healthy. My deepest condolences. At least he lived a good life with you

I always read these through a film of tears because I've been there. So very sorry for your loss. Know he lived a good life, albeit a short one, and that he had a chance to experience love in your home. frown

sending my thoughts along with so many others--it is indeed such a heartbreak. we had a sweet feral calico that was VERY difficult when she wanted to be, but sweet and dead gorgeous the rest of the time... I still miss her these many years gone by .

That is so very sad! As a fellow cat lover I understand the heartache too well. I don't know what i would do if one of my fur babies passes frown
Sending my love
