Yesterday I was invited to speak on a panel for the first time. It's called The Road to Development: Women Leading the Charge, and it's about women developers, how we got to where we are and what our experiences have been like. I'm incredibly excited, as this is one of the main things I'd like to do in my career in tech. I want to inspire girls to go into this profession, and this is the first step toward it! I'm super nervous though. I have visions of just throwing up on stage when I go to speak, like in It's Always Sunny when Sweet Dee does her stand up.

My lady, Jaylin, has been in Greece for the past 9 days and I miss her SO much. This trip has been so amazing for her, and I can't wait for her to get back and become my adventuring partner in crime. We're planning a camping trip for the weekend of August 1st. But not just any camping trip...

We're going skydiving!!

I'm SO excited! I think we're doing the 18k ft jump. That's like, 90+ seconds of freefall. I hope I don't pee on the person attached to my back.

hello Posh-

congratulations on the speech; you'll do great - just DONT imagine the audience in their underwear - that is a big mistake. I am a college eng prof and i have to speak in front of large groups all the time-- I suggest that you eat something beforehand to settle your stomach - something carb-like- but not too much - also have something to fiddle with- a water bottle or a glass or water/ cup of tea - even if you dont touch it at all- having something there to do with your hands can be a life saver. Also - practice before hand and write out what you are going to say and print it out LARGE but also have an alternative bulleted list ot go by. Try and anticipate questions and pre-think some answers; that will help too.

AND-- have an awesometime skydiving. WOW.

I wish there were more women developers. It's all dudes. I only know a handful of women developers.

Back when I was in college, we had about 150 or so people in my major (Computer Science) and I could count every single female on two hands.

Best of luck encouraging more women to develop.
