Outsourcing cheap tech labor makes me entirely sad. Sometimes I feel like my entire background in design and dev has been totally meaningless. I need a new project before I fully believe I have no more useful skills. Today is totally an emo day. Weeee!

Remember when I designed ties for a year? Hahaha!

Mmmm, this is a sore subject for me, I got burned pretty bad in November by some cheap outsourcing and some in turn laying off of me.

I think I'm losing brain cells too, the older I get the harder it seems to just "pick up" new skills. confused

Raped baby tie is still by far my favorite. You should seriously put them all up, some of them were so unintentionally hilarious.

You know, there's nothing that says your skills need to be exercised at work. Tons of people have meaningless jobs but find meaning in outside activities that often end up becoming their jobs. If you can't convince your narrow-minded bosses that it would be beneficial to let an employee they're already paying to work on some stuff in-house then find or create a freelance project and make it your own! There are always a few ideas inside my head for websites I want to start, I'm sure d20 and other webnerds around here are the same way.

Edit: Geez, when I started writing there were no comments, now there are three! Aren't you a popular girl.

Outsourcing does suck. How in the hell is anyone supposed to build a resume if all of the back office work gets done somewhere else?

Oh god I know the feeling. I've applied for so many freelance projects and been turned out because someone called Sanjeev will do it for a tenth of the cost despite the fact his portfolio is atrocious.

This is why I want a base of skills I can fall back on if times get hard for me.

I hope you get on alright with yours. Good luck and Geoff Hugs.

wow, please tell me you got to keep lots of samples of these ties. Unsure of the specifics, but I just know that lots of Jesus ties could come in handy.

outsourcing has equally screwed animation. it totally devalues the work we do and makes it more difficult to find work in the first place.

thanks "free trade".

Please, please tell me that is the actual name of the tie. "Brokeback Jesus" is just too awesome a name.

Also, I think the "weee" at the end of that sentence totally negates any sort of emo vibe.
