I've encountered the most inconvenient injury. I am typing with one hand, the left, at the moment and not because i am going to pleasure town! last weekend, I hurt my arm by using the touchpad of my laptop too much. Repetitive stress and all that. I've since picked up a sexy Samsung 20" Widescreen LCD, and am using my Macbook Pro as a desktop with external everything. Very nice setup, except that this weekend when preparing Canadian Thanksgiving, I stupidly worked the hell out of my right arm. It has never hurt more. All up the back of my arm and a bit down my back.

What can I do?

I have an elbow brace but I don't feel that does much. I have extra strength advil, but it still hurts. I have work to do. I need my right arm fully functional. Suggestions on how to deal with an RSI?

Have you tried massage? I am a massage therapist and have worked with repetitive injuries. It seems to give my clients relief.

You are probably experiencing strain, possible swelling on and around your Median nerve. Slow and deep movements using your thumb. Stay in the middle (top side) of your arm. Also stretching your wrists will help some, just be careful not to stretch it too far. I hope this helps. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. smile

CARPLE TUNNEL! CARPLE TUNNEL! Quick get the Bengay!! wink biggrin

Oh God I can't believe I just quoted South Park! whatever tongue biggrin

I've had similar injurys from work or sports, but I'm a dumbass and have just suffered through. Maybe you should get it checked out. Hopefully it's just a strain and not anything permanent. Trust me you don't want days like I have where my thumb wrist and lower arm ache constantly. Not to mention the damage I did to my shoulder once. Constant dull achey pain is no fun. frown

Hope it gets better soon. Take care of yerself! kiss biggrin

Have you considered robot arms? I know the prospect has several negative connotations...I mean, let's face it, it's difficult to cuddle with steel, or even steels softer little sister, aluminum. People may look at you in frank curiousity, or even fear. And lets not forget that shiny body parts haven't exactly been fashionable since the mid 80s...

But there are upsides, too! Wouldn't it be great to have a little action sound play everytime you performed a task, a la Bionic Woman? And I KNOW you could appreciate a drastic increase in typing speed. "Efficiency is SEXY", says Popular Mechanics! Also, simply by adding a variable frequency vibrating finger or two, you'd have a direct line, highspeed highway to Pleasure Town. Like a bullet train, or concorde jet. A CONCORDE JET OF ENJOYABLITY.

What ever you decide, I hope you can fix the problem! <3!

Right arm/hand injuries seem to be pretty common these days. My wife breezey had a large woman fall on her at work and she stretched the tendon in her right shoulder. Now shes post surgery and has a huge sling with 2 straps and a big cushion. My friend shark inexplicably broke her right thumb. We were all drunk and no one knows how she did it, but its pretty bad. hope you feel better. wink

I'm sorry. I've actually got an RSI in my wrists (no, not from that) right now, so I'm seeing a physical therapist to deal with it. I'd tell you what they told me, but it really only works for the wrists. Feel better and Happy Thanksgiving!

Ive had similar problems in the past, really rest is what you need but Ive also found that a very large track ball is much easier on the hand than a track pad or even a mouse. Maybe its just me but this is what I use.

Do you have any numbness in your little finger or arm? Does moving you head a certain way make pain worse?
