this here goes out to all of you computer nerds, kind of. as i previously stated, i\'ve got to build myself a computer. it\'s been a long, long while since i\'ve touched on this with my mind, and my hands. basically, i need a decently powerful, but not too expensive rig that will be solid enough for a slight bit of 3d modeling and rendering, graphics in general and most of all gaming. clearly, my graphics card is important. however, i don\'t know what is out there, nor where to start looking!

i figure i will start getting components, piece by piece and slowly assemble it. that seems the most affordable way, anyhow. i think i will be getting my parts through MWave out here.

my questions to you, out there, oh wise nerdy ones i love so much:

1) what do you recommend for my core system?
2) what do you recommend for my graphics card, and why?
3) do you have any computer remnants you wish to sell me?

feel free to reply here, or drop me an email at posh.suicide@gmail.com

the geforce cards are good cuz nvidia makes good drivers. get something with dual DVI out so you can run two flat panels if/when you have them. once you do that you won't go back to one screen.
amd processors are much bang for the buck.
if you need a case to put it all in, i really like LianLi cases. they are very easy to work with and functional and pretty to boot. good luck with all that.

Hey Girl! wink

I have no regrets after 2 years with my 3200+ Athlon 64 CPU!

If you can spring the coin, the newer Dual Core Athlon 64s will keep you running full speed in WOW and in Photoshop as one CPU core runs your main app, the other can do all the other tasks that windows needs done with no sacrifice in performance. They run cooler than the Dual Core Intel chips, cost less and use a smaller Power Supply! Even better, when LONGHORN, the new Windows OS comes out in 2006, it will support 64 bit better and give you an instant 30 - 40% boost!

Get a motherboard with the new PCI-Express Video Card slot and any new Nvidia or ATI card that fits it will do both WOW and Photoshop proud!

P.S. Happy Holidays Posh! If you ever find yourself on Shadow Council, PST Rufus, my Troll Mage and say Hi... wink

P.S. II: Nice Lens Work on Mal's Set! smile

I'm no good at this computer thing, I have no expertise in this area. I think face4radio might be able to help a little, I met him this evening and he said he had computer parts all around his place, I was trying to get more RAM for my baby (so I can finally play WoW too!) but alas, it's too new for his stuff apparently... he's into making his own 'puters and such, so maybe? smile

I came by to really say you did a great job with Malloerigh's set, I loved it. biggrin xo!
