You might have heard, I've been quite a travel bug as of late.

I had absolutely no idea this time two years ago that I would have been to New York and Montreal twice by now... or that I would get to hike through a forest of ancient cacti in Arizona, visit New Orleans or even go shelling in Florida. (I totally mastered 'the stoop' by the way. haha!
) Life is so crazy.
This is approximately the route we've traveled since January...

as of today, I've been away from home for 5 months, 5 days!! Holy smokes...
Current location: Banff

It's beautiful here.
I had a birthday recently... I really miss having them at home.
Oh yeah, I also got to shoot with ever-talented Milloux on my way through California!

About time for something new, eh?

- WARNING - This blog entry may contain cuteness... and lots of pictures. Consider yourself warned!
Early this year, I picked up knitting as road trip boredom-killer. At first, I was totally frustrated! I learned by watching videos of other knitters demoing different stitches. Every time I'd take a break from one type of stitch and try another I'd have to watch the video again.
Since then, I've become very much addicted to knitting... It's been like therapy. So far I've made a pile of monsters, a monkey, a couple of robots, a few pairs of leg warmers, a hooded scarf, some plain scarves and two pairs of slippers.
I was kind of ashamed of my new hobby at first. Stereotypically, knitters are mostly older women. Whenever I took the bus or train, I'd wish I spent the idle time knitting but I was too embarrassed to do it. Now I just don't care. I knit whenever I can!
If you're on Instagram, you might have seen some of my knit projects already. If not, I finally have a bunch of project pictures gathered to share with you...

nameless little monsters... and wall-e

this is geet. he's a garage monster. (this is why he has a wrench)

meet the lovebots! wall-e feels right at home with these guys.

these two are tony the toy box monster (purple) and hugo the couch potato monster (green)

the monkey doesn't have a name either but he's one of my favourites.
for a while I actually called him suicide monkey because I held his mouth on (before he was finished) with a variety of tapestry needles and it started to resemble piercings. haha

monkey love!

that's the bunch! hope you like them...
other happenings:
-this came in the mail...

I looooove getting mail.

I'm so excited it finally came! I guess I won't be needing to buy yarn for a while...
-I scored these at a japanese store...

daiso is the best! 6.6mm bamboo dpns and 12mm giant hollow plastic needles. $2 each!
-I've been doing a bit of sewing...

knitting needle pouches! made of awesome cork fabric. thank you, mr. rabbit!
-I've got a second monkey in the making...

arms, hands and ear in progress. I already have the body made!
-progress report on the WALL-E costume... (since its that time of year again)

he's cute as ever... but still unfinished. I made him as last year's costume over just a few days and wore it even though all of the details hadn't been finished. After halloween had passed, I wasn't in a huge rush to get it finished... I'm the best procrastinator sometimes. I still plan to finish him up! I've found some schematics that show a ton more detail than I even knew about when I started making him.

side view. he's made of recycled things... almost exclusively cardboard and paperboard. the treads are made of crunched tinfoil spray painted black and mounted on paperboard. I wish I had documented the process.

Hal and the plant... Hal was made out of a contact lens solution bottle that I found on top of our recycling pile. The curve seemed perfect for his body, so I grabbed some wire (for his legs) and just made it up as I went along. I was basing everything on screenshots from the movie.
The plant is made of wire wrapped with green crepe paper. The wire is secured to the bottom of a round bit of cardboard that I glued dirt on top of. I fit that into the top of the shoe and... 'ta daaaa!'
I used my nephew's old baby shoe as the boot. The scale kinda works, I think!
-I love these...

Interchangable circulars. Wood. Ohhhhhh yes!
I could care less about the colours, but that's what's available. I love the feel of wooden needles! After you've spent some time knitting, you start to enjoy working with certain materials over others. I'm not a fan of metal knitting needles, but every one is different. They're cold every time you pick them up and they make an awful scraping sound as you knit. Plastic ones feel... well, plasticky. haha. They start to stick in my hands if I've been knitting for a while. The one thing about wooden needles is you have to be really cautious with them. Especially if they're smaller, they could break if you aren't careful with them. If you have the habit of always misplacing a needle as you knit, (a bit harder to do if they're on a cable. hah. there are dpns ands straight ones too) these might not be the kntting needles for you.
-been cooking yummy things...
butternut squash soup and hummus!

this is what I love about fall! mmm...

-I GOT TO STAY IN A REAL TREEHOUSE!
out in squamish valley...

about 50 feet off the ground!

the view.
It was SO COOL! It rained a lot... I loved listening to it all night and saying completely dry. You could hear the salmon run in the nearby river, too! I'll never forget it.

don't look down!

the house below... It's a caboose!
We were going to stay in the treehouse for a second night but it started to pour and over the course of the next day everything got wet inside.

constant downpour.
I love it out there...

(the caboose is still under construction... never mind the toilet out on the deck.
)

-hiking adventures with mr. rabbit...

look, you made it!

until next time,

OMG!
I was just at a toy shop where I saw a bunch of lego Pirates of the Caribbean sets and I found out that Lego is going to release the Black Pearl in October or November this year!!!
Yeah... I'm so excited that it deserved a blog post. I need it.
Oh, and I also just found out that the 4th Pirates movie is going to be released on my birthday. Nothing beats 1st one but I can't wait to see it anyways!! Ahhh!

Not sure how I feel about some of the new actors in this movie but I hope Davy Jones will be back again... The animation in his beard is fantastic!

Is anyone else as excited as I am?
-end pirate transmission-

I apologize if I'm a blog or two late with replying to comments. Web access has been minimal and then there's also plenty of work to do in the real world. I'm in Las Vegas right now. It's almost hot when the sun is out. (YEAH!) But in the shade, I'm freezing. So... I'm forced to walk around LV with my snow jacket and a scarf just in case. Hahaha.
Today was supposed to be a work day but I've been given the day off instead. I was going to post pictures and tell you all about my travels but I just realized that I left my iPhone cable in the truck so it's going to have to wait.
I spent yesterday evening on the strip, going back and forth between the Bellagio and Treasure Island hotels... Hoping to catch the Sirens of TI and the fountains (Ocean's 11!! <3) but we had the wrong time thanks to a change in time zones and didn't feel like standing around for an hour to watch the pirates. I'm totally amazed by all of the different kinds of architecture you'll find within a few blocks! There's so much more exploring to do! I would LOVE to see the Titanic: The Artifacts Exhibition and Criss Angel's show while I'm here...

Anyone know where I can get some official CSI merchandise?

Soooo.... I was walking down Main Street in Park City this afternoon and all of a sudden I see Jack Sparrow walking (drunkenly, of course...) along the sidewalk!!
DREAM COME TRUE.
How often do you see a pirate wandering around in the snow?! My life is pretty much complete now.
Even though I didn't get to meet the MythBusters in San Francisco... Boo.
I do have pictures... but lots of them are on my 'real' camera (not iPhone) and I won't be able to upload them until at least tomorrow evening!! There are some busy days and early EARLY mornings ahead. I'm an hour behind since I'm from the west coast.
There's a ton of paparazzi around. I've never seen anything like it!
warm wishes from snowy Park City!

Hooray for internet access!
I'm on the front page!! Exciting!
Thanks for all the lovely comments you've been leaving me all day. They're QUITE a treat after a full day of meeting people and selling things.
Today was pretty busy at the sukhasana booth. I'm pretty lucky to be at a booth where I'm not forced to stand all day though. And I get to use the comfiest chairs EVER!!
The thing I don't like about conference/conventions is how much they're just about buying and selling. I ended up with some new bamboo/organic cotton yoga pants because of a too-good-to-be-true type of deal. (I really don't think I needed them, but I really do love them!) Other than that... I got to take a 2 hour yoga session taught by the beautiful Seane Corn and I got a few new essential oils to add to my collection! I guess it's been a good day...
San Francisco was sunny and WARM this afternoon!! It's been pretty awesome here. I look forward to visiting Park City and Las Vegas in the next little while... So much to do, so little time.
Tomorrow is the last day to for you say hi to the lovely ladies at the Taboo show in Vancouver! Send them my love! I wish these events didn't overlap...
Get your naughty on!

Hi friends!
There are a few things that I need to find out and I'm hoping that somebody on the internet will be able to help...
I need to know:
-Where to find blood oranges & coconut bliss
-How I can meet the MythBusters
-The best places to eat in San Francisco
-Fun things to do in San Francisco
It's a dream of mine to meet the MythBusters.

Plus, I have a big girly tv crush on Kari...

Okay, so it's dorky. Whatever. I'm in San Francisco right now and I'm SO bummed because they don't allow for visitors! Come on, M5 Industries... I love you!!! (Damn Jamie's rules!
)
I had a chance to explore Fisherman's Wharf area today... The air was pretty misty. Makes me wish I hadn't worn my glasses! We watched the sea lions for a while at Pier 39, went to Ghirardelli Square for a chocolate fix and also... wandered through the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company gift shop! I always love the Bubba Gump gift shop for its Forrest-inspired wares. I still need to get some Boudin sourdough though... Yum!
I think this is my all-time favorite Forrest phrase:

A friend of mine is really good at voices... His Forrest Gump impression is the best!!
I have to wake up WAY too early tomorrow for the Yoga Journal conference set up. I'm not looking forward to the morning at all but later on it'll be a ton of fun! (I'm not not NOT a morning person. haha) If any of you are planning on going to the Yoga Journal conference... Come by and say hi! I'll be at the sukhasana booth.
I have pictures to post but I think they're going to wait until next blog...
Oh and if you're in Vancouver, you should definitely go to The Factory and hang out with the Vancouver SuicideGirls (and visiting SuicideGirls too!) tomorrow night! You won't want to miss the SG booth at the Taboo Sex Show the 13th (today) to 16th either.
That's all for now!
