Accuser: Question: "Douche canoe." What does this term mean? At a glance, it would seem to mean "vagina." Wouldn't using it as an insult therefore be misogynistic language? I realize it's a funny little phrase, and it's not immediately apparent that it's anything other than that, but I think a pretty good case can be made that it's meant to refer to a vagina.
Me: No. Douches are a solution which are flushed through the vagina, so if anything the vagina would be the river bed if we were taking the metaphor in that direction. Of course, that's assuming a douche should be in a vagina at all, which it shouldn't. Douche is an excellent insult because they are unnecessary, bad for everyone, and exist to shame women about their vaginas , just like Jimi Izrael!
In this case Izrael is SO douchy that he's floating along in his own flood of douche, like a misogyny canoe on a river of horribleness.
Seriously, Jezabel has been doing these "shock" pieces for a while, but I don't consider them a feminist form of media. If they're constantly bringing in Men's Rights Apologists and other crotch-lint to say slut-shaming, anti-science, anti-safe-sex, misogynistic crap, they're not a feminist organization/business.
