I like FB but for friends only. Even then it can test my tolerance at times. I can only imagine the kind of tripe the general population might toss out there.

The problem with fb is that it has become a power and does exercise control to an extent that is almost all encompassing when it comes to the internet.

Why is SG there?

Because if you are doing business on the net you can not get around fb if you do not want to be a pariah. The tyranny of the "I like" button has sneaked into the life of people all over the world. It is a mix between the mob rule of which Rosseau wanred and the ideal of the facist idea. SInce the demagogues of the Greek City States it was shown that the mob might rule but can be guided in the way it does rule. And the other part is the influence of fb to have everything fitting the image designed by the one power of fb if it be by mob rule or the manipulation of demagogues. And this is at the core of the facist idea to have everything alike and confirm to one standard. Well, fb will help your business and help to get the favor of the masses as long as you grant them the right to play with your information and as long as you do confirm to their twisted idea of the world - to their rule!
So it does cost to turn your back towards the spoiled gifts of fb but is the rebellion against their facist rule not worth the cost even if because of the power which fb holds nobody might ever know but you.
