Let us not follow vulgar leaders
Who exploit the fear of death,
And promise the bliss of salvation.
If we are truly happy,
They will have nothing to offer.
Some leaders use threats to win adherents. They invoke death to force good behavior and to herd people toward paradise.
Others woo with grand promises. If you have no satisfaction, they offer bliss. If you feel inadequate, they offer success. If you are lonely, they offer acceptance.
But if we do not fear death and are happy, what will such leaders have to offer? Spirituality is an organic part of daily life, not something dispensed by a professional. True spirituality is liberation, not just from the delusions of reality but from the delusions of religion as well. If we attain freedom from the fear of death, a sound way of health, and a path of understanding through life, there is happiness and no need for false leaders.

i actually did end up shooting for strhess, haven't seen the final product yet though.
here are a couple photos from my 2 recent shoots with Pressure Magazine, a local magazine
based in Cleveland OH.

I really feel I made the right decision by switching my major to environmental science. Things just seem to be falling into place lately.
I've been getting more in touch with the spiritual aspect of life and learning a lot of really interesting things lately. Meditation, learning about different spiritual beliefs and histories.. it's all really amazing.
There's a really beautiful story and simple meditation instructions on this really neat website:
"This too will pass"
If anyone knows about any really useful websites about meditation/chakras/all that wonderful stuff please share your knowledge

part of a poem about Christopher J. McCandless.
i thought this was so beautiful i needed to post it right after it was read.
I do not want to lead a life of quiet desperation...
...
His mother on the other side
of the country knew it
was too late, always too late
to save him. He could not live
in the world in the usual way.
What others wanted was too little--
mutual acceptance that shrugs
and says, the poor are always
with us, then goes on counting
its blessings. What could he do
once he recognized the false
being within him? He began
to walk toward the clean slate
of the woods where stars
sharpen themselves in wide spaces
of sky and the body breathes
in the certain knowledge
of air's steel blade. He chose
another name, gave away his money,
wrote across a W-4 form:
Exempt, Exempt, Exempt.
Because so many went hungry,
he gave up eating, his one companion
the moon, starving itself
in quarters and eighths.
Who can say why he refused
to turn back? It's said the spirit
chooses its own affliction.
...
maybe more to come soon..
