So this song has been in my head for days. Probably close to a week. I'm madly in love with Princess Superstar so youtubing her led me to this one:

This video has gymnasts, awesome make up and eye lashes, and spandex. Not to mention a song that takes you over like a brain slug.

More classic Princess Superstar

My 30 days of sobriety went well.
The 30 day Bikram challenge however, taught me that I am pitta dominant and should avoid excessive heat. Oh dear. According to Ayurveda there are 3 body/mind types, or doshas (pitta, kapha, and vata). I'm a pitta body dominant and since pitta represents fire and the body's metabolism, adding more heat for pitta peoples is no bueno. So I've been sticking with Vinyasa yoga now and I absolutely love it. I still may go to Bikram yoga here and there but this is definitely where it's at for me.

I am about to embark on an adventure. I'm starting to get a little nervous.
What do you do when you get nervous? Nervous ticks or habits? What about to calm yourself down?
what do I do?

So somebody told me I don't update this enough. It's true. I mostly don't feel like I have anything worth to update.

A couple nights ago, my brother and I and a couple friends went to Doug Benson's Movie Interruptions . They played Torque, while Doug Benson, Paul Scheer, Adam Scott, and Brian Posehn cracked jokes through the whole movie. The fact that Adam Scott was also in the movie made it especially.... well.... special. I hardly remember the movie, but I was pretty much laughing non-stop. I'll definitely be doing this again.

I don't know what this face was about...

Thanks to the awesometastic toothpickmoe I have a job! weee! Still in training, trying to soak up all the learnins i can. So far, I like it. Every day is different which is a huge plus in my book.

So in honor of my birthday this year, I've decided to treat myself to 30 consecutive days of (hot stinky sweaty Bikram) yoga and sobriety. I need a good detox and I want to start this year out all healthy like.
woooo health!!!!

I went to Texas a little while ago to visit my mom and stepdad.

Here is a view of a sunset from the front of the house.

While I was there I got to help move cattle from one pasture to another and feel like a cowgirl again.

I don't have a whole lot going on right now.
Still in LA
Still looking for work.
I'm applying for some volunteer work to keep myself busy, and in hopes of being able to get one or two letters of recommendation for grad school. I went to a rather large school for my undergrad degree and sadly, only one professor will remember me enough for a letter of recommendation. Also, my last jobs have all been kitchen jobs that didn't end well so no letters there. I love cooking and baking but my lack of harmony with being a professional kitchen drone is yet another reminder that I belong back in school, and in another field.

I've been going to yoga every day for the last few weeks, which has been awesome.
I really missed it for the last few months. Most mornings I fight with myself about going, but in the end I always go. I go to Bikram Yoga, the hot sweaty kind. The "OMG, I'm going to die, why am I doing this?," get drenched in sweat until its dripping off of you like a leaky faucet and your fingers are pruney and you can literally WRING the sweat out of your clothes kind. I love it. Its fun.

There was a piece of Styrofoam on the dining room table that one of the roommate's cats liked to sleep in. Caught her in it when a Warhammer game was being set up

So heres what I've been up to for the past few months.

Hung out with sweet lil peas a while ago

Been working a shit ton. Here we are doing a cooking class at The Ronald McDonald House to benefit the Children's Hospital and RMH.

I make a mess as usual

When I first got my job, before I moved back to San Diego, my boss was awesome enough to let me stay at her house while I looked for a place to live. I have to admit looking out of my window every morning and seeing this:

didn't help motivate me to look for an apartment.
Its right by the Torrey Pines gliderport so there were always people flying by. Id usually wave at them and say "hi." smile I actually walked there one day via the beach and cliff.

The view from the edge of the property. There were always surfers parking (and changing wink ) on the street.

My boss' garden overlooking the water. I loved coming out here on my lunch break or after work and eating tomatoes. biggrin

and raspberries!

moar tomatoes! there are seriously a ridiculous amount and variety of tomato and pepper plants in the garden which I absolutely loved.

and oceans of basil!

brussel sprouts. smile

mmmmmmmelon

and gorgeous flowers everywhere

I brought Eleanor by the house once and she seemed to dig it.
Needless to say, I miss that house.

We finally opened our doors at the lounge. Business has been fairly steady. Weekdays are a little slow but weekends pick up and we still have a lot of catering orders.
My hands are really feeling the effects of all this work. I think it might be tendonitis. frown So I've been icing and taking ibuprofen. My boss has been really nice and given me my days off all together so I can get rest although unfortunately it hasnt seemed to help much. I can't really afford to stop working and I'm afraid thats what I might need. I really should see a doctor about it I suppose. Insurance might help....whatever
No benefits from work yet but we're hoping in the future they will be able to offer them. Its not really anything I can't work through most of the time but nobody wants to be in pain all the time.

Had the work holiday party last night at the boss' house. Fully catered and DJ'd. Some of us bakers did a secret santa which was awesome. All the dogs (boss has 5, plus I brought Maisy and another baker brought her chihuahua) were in holiday garb. Sweaters and/or bell collars. My boss' chihuahua and the other baker's chihuahua were both wearing Santa outfits. Pretty freakin cute. The party got pretty awesome. My boss always says "anything worth doing, is worth doing in excess," and boy is she ever good at that. She was standing on the coffee table singing Warren G and Nate Dogg at one point. It was pretty awesome.
There are pictures of course, but I seem to have left my camera at her house. shocked oops.
Pics will be posted soon. smile

Well I have to scoot off to work. Those cupcakes wont bake themselves!
