Try this! ...if you can get the person nearby

I have this little trick I used to use and it seems to work well for me.

When you are alone with the intented target, make sure they have nothing in their hands and you guys are doing nothing. Without a word, hold out your hand face up in front of him, just above his elbow...make sure your hand is relaxed and so are you. Look right into the target's eyes with a gentle smile.

Depending on what the target hands you, you can tell what the target is thinking about right that moment. If the target puts their hand in yours or something like that, you know you are the target's target That silent communication will give you a shared moment that words can't convey (it helps if you give a big heartfelt smile (for real, not pretend) when the target holds your hand.

By the way, if this fails (for example if they hand you the TV remote) don't despair. You can try again later or try again immediately (like if you didn't know they were holding something in their other hand...if you do this while they are holding something, obviously they will give you that item).
