hello there internet boyfriends and girlfriends.

For those of you who didn't check out my last post, it was pretty fucking epic, and had a lot of stuff actually worth reading, so swing by if you get the chance smile

For now, however, I'd like to talk to you all about something very near and dear to my heart.
Something that has been a part of my life since I was little more than a drunken, birth control-failing creation in my mummy's unknowing tummy...

I'll give you a couple visual hints as to what that something is:

Do you know what it is??? Do ya? Eh?!?!?

It's MAPLE SYRUUUP!!!

I friggin love this shit. Like, some may argue I love it an UNHEALTHY amount.
In fact, I have the sticky, delicious, Canadian wonder that it is tattooed on my left calf:

yuh-huh. Don't act like you're not jealous.

One of my most favorite things I always looked forward to every winter as a little girl was going on class trips to go tap maple syrup straight from the trees. The syrup would be collected in buckets, then melted down into it's raw state, and we'd pour it over fresh snow and have maple snow cones!!!

For some it's ketchup, for others it's hot sauce, but for me it's the sweet and savoury liquid gold that comes straight from this great land's national tree smile

For those of you who have yet to dabble beyond the standard pancakes and french toast realm, I have a few suggestions for other sticky-sweetly awesome goodness involving maple syrup!

Just keep in mind that this list was written with TRUE maple syrup in mind. -Not that 10% pure maple aunt Jamima crap; the stuff that comes from real maple trees!

Okay, here it is:

1. Poured over french fries.
Probably my favorite way to have it. I like it along with salt and malt vinager, it makes the most perfect combo of sweet, salty, sour, and deep fried. Mmm...

2. Spring roll dip
Plum sauce is delish; don't get me wrong. But maple syrup is a little sweeter and soaks right into the rolls way better!

3. Drissled over popcorn
Believe me; you HAVE to try this one! Once you slather on your butter (whey-free vegan margerine, in my case) and salt, or pour the microwaveable bag into a bowl, try lightly drissling warm maple syrup over the top, and shake it around. The popcorn tends to get a little sorry sometimes, but if you eat it right away it's usually fine.

4. On (*veggie) Burgers
This is pretty self-explainitory... I just think it's yummy smile

5. In Peanut butter cookies
It's a wicked substitute for sugar, and makes the cookies sooo gooey!

6. Licked off your lover's body.

7. Licked by a lover off your own body.

8. On potatoes
The bland, starchy taste of taters makes them perfect for taking on added flavors. I like just cut up baked potatoes with a bit of butter, salt and syyyrup! (Take THAT sour cream!!!)

9. On toast with peanut butter
Crunchy PB, whole wheat bread and sliced bananas on top is my fave!

10. Pet-safe ant traps
If you have a bad ant problem in your house, but you don't want your pets harmed by any insecticides, try speading a super thin layer of syrup over a small, bio-degradable sheet of paper to leave out near the problem. The ants are attracted to the sweetness, and get caught in the stickiness.
Once the paper has done it's work, and caught fair amount of the mini-invaders, you can dispose of the bio-degradable, ant-covered paper outside (away from your house), and it can serve purpose as food for a larger creature.
Delicious AND full of protien!!!

Well, there's 10 new ways to try maple syrup.

Do any of you have that one topping or condiments you can't live without? What do you like it on?

Any other suggestions for the deliciousness known as maple syrup?!

Mmm... all this talk about syrup made me hungry.
I'm gunna go have some PB toast with my favorite topping!
Ooo! And don't forget to leave me some love on my new set, I'm really rooting for this one!

the peanut butter toast one does sound pretty good. I find myself putting honey mustard on a lot more food items nowadays. I love the stuff.

For me its mayonnaise, the creamy real whole egg kind. And variants on it like aioli. There is also a creamy roast garlic sauce that is made by my favourite condiment maker that I drink straight from the bottle if I don't control myself, they've stopped selling it at my supermarket though which is probably for the best.

Maple syrup is epic. Though putting it on some of those foods sounds a little odd. I'm going to try it on the veggie burger. I'll report back.
