...and a fabulous party was had by all.

I went the other night to the magazine release party for Coilhouse, which Zoetica has been working her cute little buns right off on of late. I've been a fan on the blog for a while, and was super excited to see the magazine out in print, as well as to get to meet those involved that I didn't already know. Besides, they said PARTY. With booze. And a THERMIN. You don't say no to a party with a theramin.

And the party? It was FABULOUS. As good a greeting in LA as I could possibly hope to have- a room full of the creative and the beautiful, artists and designers, hookers and mad hatters. And yes, the theramin rocked.

Pics, you say? Well, Last Night's Party caught me woofing down the cheese cubes. Zoetica decorated all pretty like, and gave us lots of toys to play with, and drewyoon took lots of pictures. Lots.

baudot and I found kimonos, for example

Do not let all the goodness go to waste. Check out
the Coilhouse blog. It's good stuff.

VISA Goth: Hot in the City (originally posted to The Devil is in the Details)

Welcome to the VISA Goth summer footwear special. Like most of the spooky kids, I've pretty much stayed away from anything that could be considered summer footwear for many years. However, I just moved from the Bay Area to Los Angeles. Suddenly, my fairly ridiculous collection of over-the-top platform boots and unwalkable fetish heels seemed incomplete. There was nothing in any of these boxes that would allow me to traverse the million-degree Los Angeles pavement AND let my feet breathe! Gasp! A footwear conundrum for which I had no answer! Thankfully there is the Internet, which solves pretty much all of life's problems.

So, if you're the kind of girl who won't be caught dead in Demonia (yes, they have some options. I'll leave that to be your own dirty little secret), here are the best things I've found that stay gothy, fabulous, and cool- and you can still walk in them (well, kinda).

WINNER! (which is to say, I bought 'em):

New Rock Platform Sandals

Comfy, airy, and they have a big giant metal skull on the front. How can you beat that? These don't seem to be available on the New Rock site, but I picked mine up new on eBay for $55.

WINNER! (Which is to say that Vampirabat bought them):

Shoes USA Thienna Platform

An awesome wedge without all that nasty cork shit everyone wants to stick on wedges these days. Yes, they come in black. Matte or patent. And burgundy. With variable heel heights.

A bit on the pricey side at $289, but they seem sturdy and well-made. We'll test them out and report back!

Runner Up: (which is to say, I stand a strong chance of buying them if I actually get any work in this town any time soon).

Steve Madden Open-toe Buckle Boot, $95.99

I admit I've been displeased with quality of Steve Madden before- my last boots from them blew up in one hard night's wear. But damn, these are cute.

Special Mention: Office Wedges, 15 Pounds

these super- affordable "WOW" wedges from Office
are a little on the plain side, but they're also Hella on Sale and with a little bit of satin ribbon at the ankles, could be turned into something pretty cute.

Check in next time, when I go hunting for a proper parasol.

So I'm totally in love with a couple of sets currently in the member review section, so it's time to remind you all to go check it out. Which is basically my excuse for posting boobies.

Besides, this is a warmup. I'll have a new set in member review shortly.

First up is a kick-ass set from Adria and tmronin that you should check out NOW because it will probably be edited when it hits the front page. So see it now, in all it's vaginery:

Adria: Pornstar

Also check out Nena's incredibly lovely Fetish Kitty:

You should also scope out hopeful Paranoika in Poison Girl. It has some upload issues, but it's worth working through them.

I found an amazing smurf house for rent with a polka-dotted back yard. I hope the give it to me!!!!!

Here is picture Rigel took of me at Comic-con, when I had talked so much my voice was gone and only tea could hope to repair the damage. A LOT of tea.

If the phrase "Tuvan throat singing punk band" doesn't pique your curiosity, I cannot begin to imagine what would.
I accidentally downloaded the entire discography of this band, thinking it was something else entirely. Then I went to look and see what exactly this Yat-Kha crew I now owned so much of could possibly be.

Tuvan. throat singing . punk. band.
With a pretty awesome short film.

Space Camp, day three-

So I went with d23 and obelisk to the X-games after party last night, where I witnessed the fabulous tableau of d23 getting a shave in an old timey barber chair from a heavily tattoed rockabilly barber in the middle of a packed dance floor while Mike Ness sang country music onstage. I drank many mojitos and stuffed my face with vegan hot dogs and sauerkraut, and all of this after I spent most of the day drinking poolside with jeremyscaremy, Manda, Maxx, and Fractal.

And now it is Monday and I must begin to figure out how to make a living here.

I've left my home, my job, stuck my dog with a friend and moved 400 miles away from my boyfriend. I have no idea what I'm going to do for money. I'm in a sublet separated from most of my stuff. I have no transportation, no groceries, and no air conditioning.

ROCK AND ROLL SPACE CAMP IS NOW IN SESSION!!!

Holy shit. Comic-Con was pretty fucking fabulous!!!! I'm not sure I've ever had so many photos taken. For three days I stood around in funny contacts promoting Wizard of Gore. Reuters came by and took a pic on day one. To my great joy, it was picked up- to my great horror, it hit MSNBC, the New York Times, and the front page of Yahoo- with the caption "promoting WIZARDS OF WAR". Wow. That's quality journalism.

Anybody who has pictures post 'em here! I have a bunch, but not many from Saturday when I was Femboting about with the other girls at the Suicidegirls booth. Here's a couple from the first days:
