Haven't been on much lately...mad pre-Christmas crafting spree. My Etsy shop almost sold out over Halloween, which I was totally not expecting, so I've been busting butt to start restocking hats for Christmas, followed quickly by Edwardian Ball (I'll be vending again). I haven't seen my floor in two weeks, but it's starting to pay off. I put the first handful of new things up today. Besides, it's given me a reason to watch Waking Dead. Need more episodes!!!!

So, in Etsy news:

Antler Hats are starting to restock, and by next week I'm hoping to launch VEGAN ANTLER HATS!!! The vegan version is also MUCH lighter- suitable for shorter hair, and will also come in a hat-pin version. I like the idea of antler top hats!

In similar news, the first couple of vegan taxidermy pieces are up! Priced cheap because I'm still working out the bugs- who knew flowers would make a deer look chubby? And the Blue Moon is adorable, but a bit wrinkly- so he's going cheap.

Sanding in line at Peet's this morning, listening to a mother and kid of around age six discussing the sudden appearance of Christmas decorations everywhere:

Kid: Mom! they have theirs up too! Everywhere does!
Mom: They do. It gets earlier every year.
Kid: But, its VETERAN'S DAY. Why don't they put up Veteran's Day decorations? Like, skeletons or something?

Take that, Bill Cosby. Kids do say the darndest things!

So, I never did find a proper stuffed Corgi, so the Queen Mum costume is going on the back burner. I'll find one next year at some point. Which begs the obvious question- what will I be for Halloween?

No-eyed Deer.

(admittedly, he's missing most of his nose as well...)

This kinda explains what living with Trillian is like.

Woo-Hoo!

I am officially the Tinfoil Hat Reporter for the SG Blog. Report one is up (those of you who read my blog have already heard most of this, but it took a while to get accepted, so I added an update).

I know we've all been bitching about the blog the last month or so, so you'll all be glad to know that a bunch of SGs have offered to pitch in and get some fun, neat stuff going on it. After all, the idea of having a work-safe SG outlet is pretty appealing. It just wasn't having any SG flavor. So, with my Tinfoil Hat Reports, Suri's "The Art of Suicidegirls" features, and some upcoming travel advice, we're starting to take it in a direction I'm a bit more into.

This doesn't have to just be SG's- anyone is welcome to submit. Don't do it through the old newswire, though. It doesn't get checked very often (that's what happened to the first Tinfoil Hat Report). Send submissions directly to nicole_powers, who is now the editor. That's right- someone has signed on as grammar police, and not a moment too soon.

Thank you all for all the lovely comments on my set. I would like to talk a bit about my current favorite comment, from SG Denie.

yeyyy #29 is reaallyy cool! such a long legs! you are gorgeous!

Fact: My legs are so short that they do not actually reach the ground.

No, really. I have to sit on the very edge of most chairs just to touch the ground. If I sit like a normal person my feet dangle and I feel like I'm five. Here is a recent picture from our Halloween kickoff party at work. The only person near my height is a 13-year-old Burmese girl who is wearing flats and bending down. And yes, I am in heels. And yes, we had a Halloween kickoff party.

And now for those of you that asked (and because I'm just like that) the fashion lowdown from Neck of the Woods. And, of course, a chance to prove that all the time Fractal and I spend digging through the intarwebs for stuff to post on HM is really just a cleverly disguised excuse for us to shop.

Top: Wal G for Topshop (yes, for those of you keeping track, that was a Haute List pick several months back.)
Skirt: vintage

Shoes: Michael Kors (again, for those keeping track,Bargain Bin Win)

Earrings: Brimstone Organics

This blog is going up a bit early, but I'll be at work when my new set actually goes in to MR this afternoon! Shot by the charming Lorelei in Joaquin MIller Park, a grove of redwoods right here in Oakland. We didn't have any huge storyline or plan, just this concept of creating a studio setting in the middle of the forest. I think it came out really well (in spite of the occasional jogger or weird guy hiking with ski poles).

I spent like an hour yesterday trying on pastel suit sets at the local Goodwill. Here is what I learned: 22W does not mean '22 waist'. But man, do I look funny in a 22w. I had no luck whatsoever in finding an appropriate Queen Mum suit for Halloween. I am apparently far too small to work in an office. And I really must find the suit before I find the hat....

Also there were no stuffed dogs anywhere. So far it is serious costume fail.

Why is it that whenever you are sick and talking like a duck, people want to have really important conversations with you? Or is that just me? I cannot tell you how many of the things that I'll remember saying forever, I have said sounding like a frog on helium.
