More or less recovered from nasty flu-thingy.

Went tonight and saw BIg Fish, braving Saturday Night theatre crowds and fuckin' cold rain to see if Tim Burtn could redeem himself from Planet of the Apes. It was a really beautiful movie visually, and the storyline was simple and well-crafted. But it just felt like it was missing something. I mean, there were circus freaks and witches and scary old houses with iron gates, but it just didn't make me grin all the way throught like a proper Tim Burton film. sigh. Also I thought the girlfreind was Indian the whole time and it turns out she was French...I'm not sure how I got those accents crossed...

Yeah I had the same feeling, There was something missing...um lets see what was it, Hmmm. O yeah how about a freekin' Point already. All the visuals were pretty cool and the little story snips with the exaggerated images were almost classic Burton. But the whole story lacked substance, it didn't really make me aware or even make me believe for a minute that any of the 2-hour long movie really mattered.

A) Well, I don't know about Portland, but I can tell that East San Jose sucks. East LA, East Palo Alto, East St. Louis, Lower East Side in Manhattan, etc....maybe it all started when Adam and Eve were cast out to live East of Eden.

B) My car is not old...it's experienced.

C) Babe, glögg is the sensation that's sweeping the nation (if your nation's Sweden). It's red wine mulled with almonds, raisins, cinnamon, orange...it's delicious and really knocks the chill off of the cold nights. As a bonus, it makes your house smell fantastic.

Glad you're on the mend kiss

I love BURTON films, Scissorhands is one of my all-time favs. I have not seen BIG FISH yet . . . but I am actually doing so today. I have heard mixed things about the movie, but mostly everyone says the colors and visuals are tops.

thanks, lady - i'm looking forward to checking out Big Fish - the screenplay was written by an old college acquaintance, who had crazy stories about his father... so i'm intrigued by that as well as Burton's vision...
