"here is an old Sanskrit word, lila [leeŽla], which means play. Richer than our word, it means divine play, the play of creation, destruction, and recreation, the folding and un-folding of the cosmos.".

Everybody goes on and on about karma, but until yesterday noone ever mentioned to me that even karma has a balancing force, lila, which noone goes on about much at all. Randomness. Chaos. The universe doing things simply for joy, or entertainment, or in fact simply because.

This idea pleases me greatly.

In other news, TheRightBastard arrives tomorrow. This also pleases me greatly. Los Angeles has been a blast so far, but I misses me some boy...

There is something profoundly appealing about that.

That's an interesting concept. Bit scary some might say. Not I though, I like how it sounds.

Enjoy your time together.

Not bad at all. I have often thought about getting destroy and create tattooed on my forearmes, seems to fit with that concept nicely.

Also, in many interpretations, karma isn't even a good thing. It's just another manifestation of maya, the great illusion that one tries to escape.

i never cared much for the idea of karma. to me, it was too similar to the christian idea of heaven and hell, in that it became a replacement for the purity of actions.

for example, where christianity says "don't do bad shit or you'll go to hell", karma says "don't do bad shit or you'll get what's coming to you later". and conversely, where christianity says "be good, so you go to heaven", karma says "be good, so good shit gets done to you".

fuck that shit.

i'm more about the idea of "random acts of kindness". goodness for goodness' sake. purity of action, not out of fear or some search of reward.

Love, you should know as well as anyone that anything foolish enough to bite me usually dies within ten minutes or so.

Except, of course, the people who've built up immunities. wink
