I give everyone nicknames, sometimes I don't tell them they have a nickname but I always give them one lol. I think its because for most people I don't care about learning their names lol

sometimes the name they want ( say NumbNuts) is already taken at somethingsomething.com and the 'Random" name generator pumps out NumbNuts2012 or NumbNuts24_7 and it's easier to go "hmmm OK!" rather than think "hey how about TooNumbNuts or ImaNumbNuts or BustMyNumbNuts"

Soooometimes, us macho dude types gotta put our fav rad engine size (cuz they tell me size really does matter) or a year model of our most awesomest favoritest ride ever. 62falcon160 or 71pinto1600 or 57TR3 (oh wait! That one is me! LOL!)

My understanding the number is typically something they hold as significant. For example... the graduation of school, their age or year of birth, the year they joined. And then there's the so called "cool numbers" you know... 69, 13, and lucky number 7. Then some time the number just means they couldn't get the name they wanted... so they added a few number for example...
