Advanced Screenwriting. A course I start next week. Nervous! I don't consider writing to be my strength, I'm too visual and I have trouble putting those visions into words.

hmmmmmmm

Any interesting scripts or books or anything really that I should read to inspire me? ... or movies I should watch?

visions for you

also, this is weird, but what do you pack for lunch? Now that I'm working like crazy again I have the need to bring a lunch, dining out every day is nice but expensive. helllp.

Sandwich (variety of filling depending on what's in the fridge), banana, grapes, cherries and a peach or another piece of fruit. Sometimes a pack of crisps. Some people tell me it's boring but i enjoy it.

I've never been very consistent about packing lunches. confused
Wouldn't a screenwriting course cover turning your visual concepts into words? You write well enough here that I wouldn't think it would be that much of a problem. smile

For any screenwriting, Lew Hunter's Screenwriting 434 is required reading if you haven't already. Good Luck!

Sandwiches are good, easy to make.
If you have a microwave there, bring some pasta to be re-heated.

You look great. When I pack my lunch I usually take a grilled chicken breast and veggies. Good luck with the studies.

I have always had trouble with screenplays, which is why I work out my ideas with a writing partner for the most part. Having someone, especially someone who writes well and knows scripts, helps move things along and make something better than if I were to do it myself. Good luck!

Should be an interesting course. I wonder what other sorts of folks will be in it.

Trader Joe's is great for cheap frozen and refrigerated lunches.

For me, Syd Field's "Screenplay" and "Screenwriter's Workbook" are still the definitive works on screenwriting. As for screenplays to read, let me commend to you Paddy Chayefsy's scripts. His collected works, plays, television plays and screenplays are available from Applause books. Chayefsy won three screenwriting Oscars and, reading these scripts, it's easy to see why. They're not just blueprints for movies. They're great works in their own right.

Sandwiches. Best thing ever if you make them good. Also, if you're weird like me, cold french fries. Those are pretty good.

hmm. i pack anything from celary and peanut butter to-go cups, carrots and hummus, RB wraps with greens and hummus, the occasional PB&J when i'm desperate...small salads are great. i love the little salad sets they sell at the grocery these days bc it makes it really easy to stay healthy. i have diet restrictions for my health due to diabetes and what not, but it's so tasty who cares!

Good luck with that screenwriting class. And like some on here, I usually pack sandwiches. Just don't do the same thing over and over again because it'll get boring really fast. I also add a mixture of fruit, chips, string cheese, applesauce, and other small food items. I always end the week going out for lunch to break the cycle.
