Quick update to signal boost this : http://www.indiegogo.com/svdp-soupkitchen

If you haven't already seen the story about this, Paul Ryan visited this soup kitchen without obtaining any permission from them, in order to get a photo op. The soup kitchen has made it clear that they wished to remain non partisan and the visit was unwelcome as they feared they would lose donors. Well, they were right. In retaliation against negative press for Ryan because of his visit, many petty people have withdrawn their funding and the kitchen may have to close.

No matter what your politics, I think we can agree that this place shouldn't have to close and stop serving people in need because of politics they did not wish to be involved in. If you want to throw some money their way, click the above link.

Thanks, and I will post a more substansive update later.

Ironic isn't it? He is already shutting down aid to the poor. Just think of what he and his buddy could do if they are elected.mad

Well, assuming the story is totally true and not somehow contrived, let's assume that for the moment, that it's true.

Then let's think about that for a moment.

It clearly wouldn't be republicans that would contribute less, that makes no sense at all. If anything, republicans would contribute MORE because their candidate had been there (and let's just point out here, to get the record straight, that Mitt gave more to charity both in dollars and a percentage of his income than either Obama or Biden did).

But if you think about this logically for a moment, it wouldn't be republicans giving less. So what we'd be seeing here are DEMOCRATS, that are so pathetic and petty that they want to try to score political points by taking away money from the poor and hungry just because Ryan walked in the door?!!!

So, if the story is true, this is just another example of how far the extreme left in this country is willing to go to try to keep their socialistic president in power. Pathetic.

^^^ Arcadiagram gets the twisted logic award. Republicans would give less because the guy who runs the center exposed Ryan's photo op to the media for being the dishonest sham that it was. How do you not get that?

Because generally republicans who give to a soup kitchen are not going to STOP providing to a soup kitchen if they've already decided to contribute to it - If for no other reason because of this exact type of criticism. So what if the guy there complained about Ryan's entry. It's just not a compelling reason to stop providing to the needy.

It's far more likely in the warped universe we live in for democrats to pull back donations until after the election to try to score some political points. Truth is, when you look at charitable giving, republicans tend generally to give more. Mind you, I'm NOT a republican but I am, of course, voting for Romney this time around.

Mitt has given more to charity in both dollars and percentage income than Obama or Biden so if you're sensitive to who gives more to the poor look to Mitt, not Obama.

Beyond that, Obama had two years with a super majority and has devastated the national economy. We're 16 trillion in debt, with a massive deficit, with over 10% unemployment, and more people are on food stamps than ever before. If you're concerned about the poor, we need to fire Obama and put him back in private life before more people need soup kitchens to survive. You can't keep running the country on a huge "credit card" like Obama is trying to do - it is unsustainable. We will eventually collapse just like Greece is doing now if we don't dump Obama and get reasonable government back at the federal level. People have been devastated by Obama's policies.

Heads up: Ferretbite is stepping down from the Buffy group. Rather than elect a new leader for that group, we wanna go ahead and merge with the Browncoats like we'd discussed ages back. Sentiment in the Browncoats group to the renewed proposal remains positive.

Presuming no as-of-yet-unseen objections in the groups after the usual couple day voting period, you'll be the new leader of the unified "Whedonverse" group.

Sound good?
