It's not Lupus.

In fact, it's not Lupus, or Lyme Disease, or Arthritis.

Turns out I had/have mono. I didn't know that could cause rashes/hives and joint pain, but apparently it can.

So, that's good news.

In other news, I just got myself into a bit of an annoyed frenzy reading a LiveJournal feminist debate about objectification. I understand why people want to discuss nude modeling, or SG in particular, but it always bothers me that so much of the "feminist" discussions I see of nude modeling contain an undertone of presumption. What I mean to say is, I've read and heard too many debates about nude modeling where the people having the debate assume they know how nude models must feel. This particular debate, for example, had a ton of people assuming that models here on SG must be insecure and in need of attention, and are therefore not making the best decision for themselves.

Now, in some cases that might very well be true. There are thousands of SGs and SG Hopefuls on this site, and many of them might be insecure and in need of attention. For some of them, that might be their primary reason for modeling here. But for many other models here, that isn't the case at all.

What bothers me is, essentially, the fact that when you assume you know someone's intentions, you are being utterly condescending, and you create a situation where you can discount that person's feelings. I see so many debates like this where people presume to know why a nude model chooses to do nude modeling, without anyone ever bothering to say "hey, why don't we ask some women who model nude what they think about this whole thing". And that's because it's much easier to dismiss someone's choices when you can assume they are based on stupid reasons.

To quote Jubal Early, "don't go visiting my intentions", anti-porn feminists. Please. I'm a feminist too, so it'd be nice if y'all had the decency to at least hear me (and other nude models) out without immediately dismissing our opinions and feelings.

Another thing that makes me frustrated is how many times people who think nude modeling is essentially bad that it can't be a good thing, because I'm being appreciated for my body and not my mind. My question is, why can't I be appreciated for my body and my mind? One of the things that I like about modeling here and being an active member here is that I can get comments on my awesome boobs on the same day I get comments about my awesome mind. If that's objectification, then maybe objectification isn't always a dirty word.

Anyway, that's my rant on that subject.

I saw like four episodes today.
When I get the chance, I might see if I can rent the series from Blockbuster or something.

It only went the one season, right?

I love it when people assume shit about someone else's motives to do something without even knowing them, and even more so when it's combined with the ridiculous prejudice against a particular group: all mexicans are illegally in the US so they shouldn't speak about immigration, all SGs are insecure girls desperate for attention so they can't know jack about feminism, and so forth.

So yeah. You're all dirty little girls, lost and confused and we're all desperate pervs. We shouldn't have an opinion because the enlightened few probably know better.

Right? whatever

When people assume things about me (like they assume I am a bad mom because I have tattoos, that I am easy because I am a nude model, etc.) I generally tell them "When you assume you make an ass out of you and me, but mostly you."

In relation to your rant: I started modeling for Sg partly because I was insecure and needed attention. I felt I needed attention from males because my father never paid attention to me when I was little.

But now I am over that and continue to do nude modeling because I love my body and who I am and want to express that through nudity.

and mono= puke but at least its not the above aforementioned things which suck far worse than mono.

I'm going to say that the anti-porn feminists take the "don't clutter up this debate with facts" approach that abstinence-only advocates take. They have an agenda, and anything that contradicts that is obfuscation from the "other side" or "deluded/misguided supporters who don't know as much as I do".

At any rate, I'm glad you didn't have something permanent; I know you can get over mono. Given how bad it can be, I share others' relief (not to mention yours, I'm sure!) that it wasn't the kind that leaves you bedridden for weeks.

Massive generalisations = always rubbish. Some people have a massive problem treating others as individuals and accepting that what's right for one isn't likely to be right for another person.

Of course, you're appreciated for your body, your icepops, and your bars crowded of dressed people.

But -of course- (again) everyone who read your blog also appreciate your mind, and your way of describing reality in a clear, open-minded way.

They argue all nude models are insecure. Actually, In my case it's the other way around. I don't feel very secure about my extra-slim body. So I don't show it in my profile. If I were as hot as you are, I'll be naked all over the Internet.

I guess there are always intolerants, in both sides, in everyside. But I'd rather stay by your side.

Congratulations for your sets and for not having Lupus.

Am I a lion? Well, I do have a might roar.

You are absolutely correct. Assuming to know the internal psyche of another and what is best for them is always ugly. It is simply another form of prejudice. It also assumes that subject group or individual is somehow lower down the food chain. I've always seen it as another example of transferring ones own insecurities and issue to another - "Look, I'm not so bad. That person/group/thing is so much worse."
