It's not Lupus.

In fact, it's not Lupus, or Lyme Disease, or Arthritis.

Turns out I had/have mono. I didn't know that could cause rashes/hives and joint pain, but apparently it can.

So, that's good news.

In other news, I just got myself into a bit of an annoyed frenzy reading a LiveJournal feminist debate about objectification. I understand why people want to discuss nude modeling, or SG in particular, but it always bothers me that so much of the "feminist" discussions I see of nude modeling contain an undertone of presumption. What I mean to say is, I've read and heard too many debates about nude modeling where the people having the debate assume they know how nude models must feel. This particular debate, for example, had a ton of people assuming that models here on SG must be insecure and in need of attention, and are therefore not making the best decision for themselves.

Now, in some cases that might very well be true. There are thousands of SGs and SG Hopefuls on this site, and many of them might be insecure and in need of attention. For some of them, that might be their primary reason for modeling here. But for many other models here, that isn't the case at all.

What bothers me is, essentially, the fact that when you assume you know someone's intentions, you are being utterly condescending, and you create a situation where you can discount that person's feelings. I see so many debates like this where people presume to know why a nude model chooses to do nude modeling, without anyone ever bothering to say "hey, why don't we ask some women who model nude what they think about this whole thing". And that's because it's much easier to dismiss someone's choices when you can assume they are based on stupid reasons.

To quote Jubal Early, "don't go visiting my intentions", anti-porn feminists. Please. I'm a feminist too, so it'd be nice if y'all had the decency to at least hear me (and other nude models) out without immediately dismissing our opinions and feelings.

Another thing that makes me frustrated is how many times people who think nude modeling is essentially bad that it can't be a good thing, because I'm being appreciated for my body and not my mind. My question is, why can't I be appreciated for my body and my mind? One of the things that I like about modeling here and being an active member here is that I can get comments on my awesome boobs on the same day I get comments about my awesome mind. If that's objectification, then maybe objectification isn't always a dirty word.

Anyway, that's my rant on that subject.

Well at least it wasn't one of the first three choices. I would rather have mono once then those, then again I will have arthitis, it's just a matter of how bad I will have it.

Better than the alternatives, definitely. My aunt has advanced Lyme, and it's destroyed her life.

i find it funny how the anti-porn feminists objectify nude models--silencing them, etc.--just like those "awful men" out there busy objectifying. too crazy, and seriously flawed logic.

happy you've found out what's been wrong, and that it's not too bad a deal for you.

Oooooh, the kissing disease kiss

The thing that drives me up a wall in that particular feminist debate, or at least one of the things, is how the people arguing against it always act like they know what is best for other people, and that nude models who enjoy what they do are some how deluded or too dumb to know any better.

also, you look so healthy in your last set! i love seeing meat on your bones!!!!! biggrin don't get me wrong, you are still petite! just magnificantly filled out! and on top of that, your love of firefly/serenity is the only one that equals mine! i also mean to misbehave! and i do often.

also, that engine room you were in is fantastic! i work in one very similar. and i would love to discuss it later!

how is your kitty? i've been meaning to ask for a while now. mine has become uber mush the last few weeks and i love it!

and its funny that people talk about being insecure and needing attention as if its some sort of unusual or terrible thing. i would be willing to bet chocolate that most of us could be caught feeling insecure and needing attention on any given day. not exactly your point, i know...but something i chuckled to myself about. smile

1- I'm really glad it isn't Lupus.

2 -I wish you to get over the mono as soon as possible.

3- I totally agree with you about anti-porn feminists and nude modelling.
Maybe I'm too naive, maybe I'm too lucky, but after 4 years of nude modelling and life modelling, I've almost always feel very secure and respected that way. Artists and student use to be very respectful of models. It's different on here, but nice too. I don't think photo modelling in this kind of website is an objectification - all the contrary, there is so many ways to shine and to show who we are and who we wanna be, we can play with our images and express personality. Because we can make our voices heard, we can show what we decide, and so being appreciated -or not- for boobs *and* mind, as you said in a so cute way.

That would be a very impressive, well-spoken post, if you hadn't been brainwashed by our despicable patriarchal society. wink

Glad to know you don't have any of those more unpleasant alternatives!

Generalizations and assumptions aren't the best way of looking at anything.
So says I.

Anyhoo ... yay for non-Lupus!!

Anyhoo II (Boogaloo) ... guess what show was featured in today's little mini-marathon on SciFi? Firefly! Guess who had never seen it prior to today? Me! I really enjoyed it once I got past seeing the captain guy as Caleb and whatshername as the Terminator. Now I want to see Serenity, gorram it!
