Iron Man was, of course, awesome. And I can't wait for Nick Fury and War Machine.

But there's something unsettling about watching a movie that makes me find Robert Downey, Jr. attractive.

Also, holy shit. One of the games I used to play years and years ago, Gazillionaire, has a version three now. I am so going to play the hell out of that. That game brings back all kinds of memories. I played it with my high school girlfriend, who I dated for well over a year. We loved the sound effects and would use them in every day conversation, and would play the game for hours together in the house I grew up in. Nostalgia City, here I come!

Now, thinking about old games I used to love, I'd really love to play Diablo II for a couple of hours tonight, too. I have so many fun memories of that game. I once showed someone the Secret Cow level of Diablo as an icebreaker. When I played Riven, I had to recruit my girlfriend at the time to finish the last major puzzle for me, because I'm terrible at spacial relations and just couldn't figure it out. I also once started to make out with a guy after I got him to teach me how to play the fishing games in Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I have fond memories of the hour(s) I spent with halfjack trying to get past that damn air level in Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. I can't even begin to count the awesome memories I have that relate to video games with Tangus, including having to ask him to help me with a battle in Zelda: Twilight Princess, watching each other play Bully, and playing Warioware with him and giggling crazily over the disco dancing puppies and kittens.

It's sad how many of my favorite stories relate, in some way, to video games.

Tell me some video game stories!

P.S. I can't get this song out of my head

My favorite video game story, for obvious reasons: I met my current, and hopefully final, girlfriend through EverQuest. That was 8 years ago, though we only 'fell into' our relationship this year.

Way back in junior high school I had a friend who, given time, could short out a Pac-Man arcade game. He knew the pattern, and while it took about 5 hours, he made the local papers through his play.

I sometimes still miss my Atari 2600 -- some of those Activision games were amazing. And my Amiga 2000, too. A great computer made by a company run by fools.

Goddamn I love a good video game. Hope to see IM soon.

I once got tossed out of a bar for playing Mrs. Pac-Man too rambunctiously...and I might have been a tiny bit drunk out of my mind.

And War Machine is gonna be sweet. Jackson as Nick Fury, though? I dunno. I'd always pictured someone more like Jeremy Irons or Harrison Ford to be Fury.

I found this poem and thought you would like it.

The Dreams of My Heart

The dreams of my heart and my mind pass,
Nothing stays with me long,
But I have had from a child
The deep solace of song;

If that should ever leave me,
Let me find death and stay
With things whose tunes are played out and forgotten
Like the rain of yesterday.

As far as video games go, the absolutely best time I have ever had was playing Shrek with Linda and the boys. It was set up Gauntlet style. ROCKED!

At first I thought RDJ was such a weird choice for Iron Man, but he seems to suit it very well.

Finishing Wing Commander after an 18-hour marathon and deciding, there and then, to be a video game engineer. And guess what? That's exactly what I am doing.

Navigating the Death Star trench in X-Wing's last mission, me piloting with my joystick and my brother at the keyboard ready to fire a proton torpedo to that idiotically small exhaust port.

Crying when Aeris died in Final Fantasy VII, though the tears may have been a result of sleep deprivation than any kind of genuine sadness.

I also find Robert Downey Jr. attractive in an odd sort of way.

saw Iron Man this afternoon and agreed. It's a great movie. Having watched it, I find it hard to believe that Downey had to fight for the part. They should have been banging on his door demanding his participation. His Tony Stark was a little rougher than some might expect from the comics...but it was spot on perfect. the man's a genius...a bit troubled at times...but that's common among geniuseseses.

I love going back to old games. I downloaded a DOS emulator just so I could go back and play games like Covert and Star Control that I remember from playing on my best friend's computer on the weekends after we wrapped up our marathon RPG sessions.

that was more than a decade ago and I think that's when I switched from a console (NES) gamer to a computer gamer pretty much.

Game stories....I can think of many many many that evolve around either a bunch of Josta'd up friends trying to solve Lemmings levels...or playing Monkey Island whilst under the influence.
