Honestly, writing this I realize I am a big old hypocrite, because I was grumpy at his parents in the first place for having a grudge against me without any good reason. But here I am, nursing a bit of a grudge because of THEIR grudge. I was used to everyone's parents liking me, so having someone's parents object to me so strongly (as they did at first, to be fair his parents have calmed down significantly since we started dating last year) was a shock, and it's taking me a while to be able to trust them. This is the stupidest analogy ever, but I feel like a cat who lived with a kid who kept pulling its tail. The kid grew up and probably isn't going to do it again, but the poor cat would be justified in feeling a little wary around that kid for awhile.
Anyway, I'm sure everything will be great, and the boy and I will have tons of fun. Plus I get to see all kinds of awesome people!

aww. i feel you on this girl, i really do. that feeling of general disapproval upon the first impression is always something that can stick around in your head for time. but it's good you're putting things in perspective and looking at the positive! i hope you have fun and im sure eventually the parents will give themselves a good shake and learn to not just accept but love you! gluck with everything!!

His parents liked me because they thought we looked like brothers. I don't see it.
Well, maybe in that dark hairy sense. I bet they'd hate me if they really new me.
Anyway, Bunnie and I will be around if you two want another destination. Bunnie's new house is across the parking lot from Angus' old school. That should be easy enough to find.

Oh hon, trust me, it's NORMAL to feel like that. I've been married to feerlessfreddy for 12 years and I STILL get that feeling when I know we're going to see his family. But at least your Mr's parents have calmed down. Unfortunately 12 years and 3 grandkids haven't made my Mr's parents calm down much yet. They still think I'm not good enough for their boy and that he married "beneath him" of course, they don't say that to me but the things they do say, surely speak volumes. 
But, I grin and bear it and then, when we get home, or they leave, (whichever situation it is) I get together with my friends and get stupid shitty drunk and forget about it.

Well, you will have many many places to run and hide at if you want. I don't blame you a bit for being wary. Karen's father was all asshole-like to me when we first met and it took a while for me to relax around him because of that. Just take your time with it.
Can't wait for you to hit town so I can finally meet you. Yay!
