What is the consensus on the new MIA video?

I think the song is not her best work but the video is thought provoking. Could have done without Mom and Dad getting it on in the beginning but thought from the bus bit on was interesting.

in other vaguely music related news....

I have become exceedingly lazy in finding new music to listen to. I used to actively hunt out new artists and albums. These days I don't know who is coming out with a new album when.

SO....

the next logical step is to have you suggest music for me to listen to. kiss

What am I missing, who should I listen to, and who is going to change my life?

Thank you in advance for all of your awesome, suggestions, comments and playlists.

Lol, funny. We just stumbeled upon these new guys, a trio....4 piece drum only, no electric guitar at all just a 4 piece drum set, a bass and keyboard. Pretty full of energy. I totally dig them!! biggrin

Disappointed in the song, agree that the video is at least provocative.
I'll be prepared to be let down by the new album.

Some random suggestions (some old, some new): the new Charlotte Gainsbourg album,
Yeasayer's "Odd Blood", Cult Ritual, Can's "Future Days" album Lindstrom and Christabelle's "Real Life Is No Cool" album, Love's "Forever Changes", Big Star "Radio City"....hmmm mostly old I guess.

The M.I.A. video is the subject of my blog today as well. It's really thought-provoking and well-made, and the song is all right. I find it interesting that they chose redheads to persecute. It's also really in step w/some of the stuff going on in the U.S. & world.

As for new music, what are you into and is there anything in particular you're looking for?

Are you a Sigur Rós fan? The lead singer, Jónsi just released his first solo album this month called Go. It's fucking incredible. You can stream the whole thing at his website: http://jonsi.com/go

Give Passion Pit a listen. Most of their stuff is pretty upbeat and good to pass time during the working day.

I'm not sure if you like British Hip Hop at all, but if you haven't heard it you should seek out Dan le Sac feat. Scroobious Pip! x

The Black Keys have a new album coming out this month, I believe. I really liked their last album, Attack and Release. Anything on the Fat Possum record label is usually a pretty good listen.
