Today was a local primary election and a friend of mine was running for office, so despite waking up feeling awful for some unknown reason and missing class today, I did manage late in the day to drag myself down to the voting booth and participate in the one peaceful thing every citizen can do to effect change.
It was fairly coincidental that I was also summoned for jury duty today, for the first time in the 10 years I have been registered to vote. Im pretty happy about it. Jury duty is such an important thing, rather than being one voice in millions, I can be one voice in 12. Jury decisions set precedence and precedence affects and in some cases creates laws. That is pretty powerful. I wish I could have been on the jury when the WM3 (http://www.wm3.org) had their trial. I hope they actually pick me and I get to hear and decide a case. That would be very cool. My date isnt until the middle of October. ) I can be a bit absent minded, or actually too full minded and space important things sometimes so I have set up reminders for it on my desktop, laptop and on a friends computer
Anyway, that was pretty cool, and my friend was ahead of the other Lib last time I checked. Yay for him, Ill have to bring him a bottle of my mead tomorrow when the final votes tally, (though winning a primary really doesnt mean much as a 3d party candidate, it does get him a spot in the debates though which is what he wanted.)
Yay!!
Ok, so Ive been really political lately, WTF! I guess it is just that season. I feel old and too serious. {shudder}
~*bounce bounce*~ Silly stuff ~fluff Fluff~ etc .
Ok thats better, now there is some balance here
BTW, thank you to everyone who posted such nice stuff on my last post. You all rock!!

Ok, Im going to get political here regardless if I piss some people off.
Im a Libertarian, Im open about it and part of that involves not telling anyone what to do or not do, but rather trust in each persons ability to make good choices and to take personal responsibility for any bad choices they do make. So Im not here trying to say anyone doesnt have a right to do this, or buy this, but I surely do think this is in very VERY poor taste.

I got this as an unsolicited piece of SPAM email, so that alone displays the lack of ethical fortitude this business is engaged in but I digress on that note to get to the real point.
I do not believe Saddam Hussein is a good man. I do believe he is a bad man, drunk with power, who mistreated his people and probably should never have been a leader.
I believe the same thing about G.W.Bush.
I think much of the world is not really 100% behind the US and thinks we are a bunch of bullies right now.
I think a coin like this is just really in bad taste. Just a blatant and ignorant display of ethnocentrism which over simplifies something which is very complex and which the American people and the world probably have only a few pieces of a much more insidious puzzle.
I like to watch news from other countries on cable TV and read global news sources online.
When I saw this and the rest of the website http://www.nationalcoinmint.com/reddawn_50.htm I was embarrassed to be an American.
I was honorably discharged from the US Navy. I consider myself a patriot.

Oh I today has been one disaster after another, the first severely paled by the second.
My kitty Shadow, who is my baby, the best cat ever and so on was attacked by a dog! He meowed to come in and so I let him, he was walking slowly like he wanted to be picked up and when I did he flipped out and let loose his fear glands all over my carpet. I then noticed he was limping. I tried to look at his back and saw a bunch of blood trying to look any more caused him to totally flip out more. Poor thing was further traumatized by a long car ride to an emergency vet who charged a few gazillion dollars to half shave him and tell me it was "only a flesh wound" (I guess I'm really a dork, but in my mind I cant help thinking of Monty Python when I hear that) He got something to calm him down too, so that is good. I am glad he will be alright.
I have a little Chihuahua dog who is about two pounds smaller than the cat, the two of them usually play and sleep together. At first I thought it was my doggie who did it since he and the cat play all the time. I was so mad at him. But when we got back from the vet, I looked around the yard for any tufts of hair, or any marks or fear gland residue on my doggie and there was none. So now I think it must have been the neighbors dogs that attacked him. Im so upset! I guess there is not really anyone or thing I can be upset at since the cat should not have been in the neighbors yard, and they neighbor dogs just did their duty defending their yard, and the cat was just being a cat doing his thing. Very stressful and scary.

I was so sad this morning. I love making bread, rolls, pizza, etc and life got so much easier when I got a bread machine. I don't think I could live without it anymore really. I guess I'll have to now because much to my dismay, the little kneading paddle in my bread machine basket snapped right off this morning!! I was mortified. I went out and picked fresh blackberries with some friends and thought I'd make pies. Now I have a lump of half mixed dough, enough for 4 pies half mixed with possibly little shards of metal from the paddle in it. I will have to throw it all away just in case, and start over mixing by hand
Grrrr.....
I saw more police cars out today than I have seen all year combined! It was crazy! I guess they want to let everyone know to not even think about driving intoxicated.
While driving on the freeway, I saw a little clusterfuck of 6 all within 100 feet of each other. Not in a formation but I guess they had someplace to go. Then I saw a whole bunch of people getting pulled over. Odd to notice all of the cars on the side of the road were older, had damage to them somehow and had young Hispanic looking people in them. I guess either they were looking for someone or they did some serious profiling. Kind of lame really. Like they decided to give out tickets to people who couldn't even afford to fix their cars thinking they (as in young Hispanic men and women) would tell all of their friends not to drink or something (since I guess rich white fucks dont drink and drive). Im glad the police are there, I give money to the FOP, but sometimes they just bother me the way they treat some people worse than others undeservingly.
I will have to be careful driving tonight. Thankfully I drive a nicer car and have my FOP supporter sticker on it, so Ill cross my fingers they leave me alone since I have some fun to go have this weekend.
Wow, what a day! I found out my set is up, and I found out my class is planning a trip to San Francisco, New York City, Guadalajara, and Spain this year!!
What fun!! Happy Happy Day!!
