My semester of school is coming to an end here and I took a semester off for the house we are probably not getting. We went back the bank/seller with a pretty lowball offer, 16% under their asking price and the list of costly repairs (fixing a house on a mountain side is EXPENSIVE!!) and now we are playing more of the waiting game. Since I am not enrolled in any classes after my computer classes end, I am going to take up a new hobby for the summer.

For years I have wanted to learn how to weld metal. I can weld and fabricate plastic, PVC and poly pro but I have never learned the safety and properties of metals in order to take up welding like I have wanted to. I have also been interested in blacksmithing and casting. So I have finally got off my ass and bought all of the supplies for this and will try my hand at it. I don't know how well it will turn out, but I am going to give it the old college try regardless. My husband and my son are both really interested too. We'll see what I come up with. I want to make some cool table legs.

A mig welder w/gas is the easiest to use. I was taught gas welding first, then brazing (welding with brass) then mig. I was able to teach myself stick. (I still ask a pro what rods to use) Never had access to a tig so never learned one.
Enjoy! Its good stuff to know. And remember, with slag you drag!
