I'm so fortunate to be surrounded by people that know and can relate to how close we can become to out pets, and understand my love for Jelly in particular. We are healing, the 1st couple of day's I didn't feel certain that I could manage the overwhelming emotions of loss I was going through. I stayed home for 5 day's just crying at the drop of a dime. I couldn't stop visualizing her in the places she would usually be. occasionally we see String Bean and do a double take, they are the same in color. I have to Take Stringbean to get an ultra sound of the Carcinoma on her lung tomorrow, and plan accordingly to what I am willing to put her through at almost 12 years old,

We are now looking back with smiles about Jelly, and a less tears,and starting to plan for the future of our next addition to our little pack of dogs. It's not a replacement of Jelly, It's keeping the pack going and inserting some well needed positive energy and distraction. I haven't had a Puppy in the house in 8 years, We are nervous and excited.

Dogs become a part of our family, in essence they are family so the hurt is the same...(for some of us) Always sad, but when you do get a new puppy, things will be happy again. (unless they chew up something important) LOL...Take it easy

I'm a new dog owner. Found my guy a couple months ago. i had a family pets as a kid and have had roommates with dogs and cats, but never my own, Vet said he's about 9 mos. old, terrier mix.
I'm pretty happy about it. I kept thinking of getting a dog and was worried about living up to the full time responsibility, but it's been ok so far. It's weird for me to think he will be in my life for the next 15 or more years. Like having a kid. But he s a champ and everybidy loves him wherever I take him.
Sorry for your loss. I'm sure it's tough.
