Good Morning Ladies and Gents,
I had the most wonderful time last night at the Edwardian Ball last night in downtown LA. Now, that would be Edward Gorey, not Kind Edward. The funny thing is, I just happened to be telling a good friend a couple of weeks ago about one of my favorite books as a kid, the Gashly Crumb Tinies,

though at the time I had no idea what the name of the book was. All I remembered was my favorite letter W

And oh my GOD I saw "W" at the ball!

The ball took place in a beautiful (but run down) theater, in which the parading pretties fit in perfectly.

It was great because everyone there took such care and so much effort went into their costumes. As a life long member of the Renn Faire I've seen a lot of costumes in my day, and I was impressed. My pictures don't do them justice, but I tried:

There was great vaudeville type music, burlesque dancers, and circus acts, and a very faint but lingering goth-type feel. I guess this is what happens when those goth kids grow up. Speaking of scenes, I've been hunting for a new tribe for some time now, and its been rough, but very self affirming. I was so disappointed when my Drum and Bass scene started to die here in the City of Angeles. Where did the dancers go? Where did all the hoodie clad boys in the back, who've made it their life mission to mad-dog on the music go? I was so worried that all I would be left with after Jungle disappeared would be the regular club kids, who seem to be competing in one of two contests: for the boys it was who can stand around looking the sleaziest WITH the creepiest pick-up line, and for the girls, who can dance the awkward-iest is the world's smallest skirt. I don't go to clubs to meet my mate to further populate the world with stupid babies. And your money doesn't impress me. I go to clubs to get carried away in the music, and to be entertained by who I paid to see there. Because, yes, I know who's spinning... do you?
Anyways, I'm willing to wait till jungle gets better again, which it will, because its not a genre based on financial gain. And in the mean time, I'll be dressing up, going out and loving the weird and strange people of the world.
Oh, and by the way, Mini-Top hats are all the rage! I was trying to count how many I saw last night, untill I broke down and bought one myself.

Love and kisses.

So three cool things to relate to you my fine friends...
Firstly, we had a blast this last weekend at Club Suicide here in hipster-land (AKA Echo Park). Its going to be a monthly event so I do hope that you'all can make it out next month....
Secondly, I had a lovely trip to Joshua Tree National Park last weekend, I'm going to spend tonight making pictures from the trip into a comic-book type thing, stay tuned for that...
And lastly, I have a new set for your viewing pleasure. Its not to be found in the regular place but rather in the hopefuls section. Its up for member review so I do hope you'll take a moment to look it over and leave a nice comment. I had a ton of fun shooting this set with Napalm up in the mountains of Santa Barbara. I was nervous that at any moment we might have been stumbled upon by hikers or mountain lions. Luckily, we all survived and we have this set for you... I think it will be officially going live tomorrow....

I have a new obsession...
Pasties!

I'm going to start selling them, as well as some other clothes and accessories, anybody interested in some?
Me and a friend have been making them, and the others are a bit more toned down then the peacock feathers, but not as cliché as the sequined ones...
I lost my job too
times are tough, I really hope the economy doesn't go down the tube...
And grey hair rocks. Its weird, because really, who dyes their hair grey?

Ah man, life is good. I feel like I've almost/kinda/mostly accomplished all my short term goals. I got in a car accident (not cool) but after all was said and done (my car was totaled) I've been left in a position where I get to get a new car.... has it happened yet? Not really, its a slow tedious process, but like I said ALMOST
I'm working in my field, but I really wish that I could be doing stuff like this:

I love this boy though, no complaints here

And I've decided that electro is the new black. And, the LA times is wrong, check bones are not the new eyebrows. (Stupidest headline I've seen in print an awhile, and thats saying something) If your looking for some new music check out Simian Mobile Disco....OR! If you would like to hear one of my mixes (some real good d'n'b shit!) through me your email. Me and Grace have been tearing up the town...

How have you been?

Hello y'all...
Christmas is cum'n....
I love the holiday season, maybe I'm just a sucka for advertising, or maybe I want to be the one person in my family who likes the holiday (how rebellious! ) or maybe its because I think red and green are the best complimentary colors (up yours orange and blue!) The holiday season is the season of sparkles and lights, and anything that keeps the night time vibe alive longer makes me happy...
Lucky for me, the Christmas season starts earlier each year. Thank you consumer culture.
I want to post a pic of my new do, but its just one of those things I keep forgetting to do. Between the new job and my Dad being sick I just keep forgetting. Alas, what's a girl to do?
Happy belated Dia De Los Muertos! I know there was that other holiday there too, but I think the Mexicans celebrate it with more pizazz

I've been working on some photos too...nothing too crazy, but I think pretty to look at.

And my favorite:

And lastly, a shout to the man in the yellow jumpsuit

Dave, your my new hero, and your one fine DJ, even if the computer breaks and you are forced to put on a record of bird calls.
I'm soooo tired
peace
g'nite

So....this has been my week, how's yours been?

Ditched the boy when he went all psyco-crazy. I keep forgeting how fun it is to be single..... I had a date last night, but it was all raver stylie, so insteed of bringing me flowers, he bought me a bottled water, and instead of conversing in a candle-lit dinner we screamed at eachother over the noise and under the lights of glow-sticks.
And I've recently become addicted to a new bag of chips....they're the XXX flamin hot cheetos, better then crack, I swear.
Peace.
