I had the dream again. It's always a little different every time, but the main theme is the same. He was there. So was she. My past, right before my eyes after many years. They kept their distance, as is normal in these dreams, but their presence was the most important thing. I was hesitant to approach them, fearing their reaction, even though everything that I am yearned to speak to them, laugh with them, cry with them.
My love was there, too. I went to him, comforted by his embrace. Knowing that he is there for me through it all, that he is "home," I looked into his eyes and said all that I had to with no words at all.
Finally, I'd worked up to courage to approach them, but like always… they were gone.
Moral of the story, kids: Don't burn bridges before you've even fully crossed them, don't let other people choose who you keep in your life. It might haunt you forever.
