my career situation is depressing as hell.

see, i make websites. it's something i've done since i was thirteen or so and i'm pretty okay at it. i've never gone to school for it, but i taught myself pretty well, with some significant help from acetracer updating my knowledge a few years back. unfortunately, i really don't enjoy doing web for a living, and i've been trying to get out of it, but it's not that easy.

before i started doing web for a living, i did a few different things - retail, customer service, santa photos (really) - but always at an entry level. i don't have tonnes of experience and it was sooooo long ago. i don't have any food service experience. i'm not "presentable" enough to get a lot of jobs. and now i'm stuck trying to get some employment that pays more than $10/hour and i can't.

i just spent all morning on craigslist and found about a million jobs for my girlfriend, and none for me. this has become a pattern.

grrrr.

I have the same problem. All my friends are awesome and successful and always getting offered management positions and promotions and blah blah blah. Even the irresponsible fuck-up ones. I don't get it.

When I first read that URL I thought it was www.vaginamischief.com , which is apparently still available.

What about Superhero? They probably don't post much for those, tho. More of a freelance gig, I would imagine...

How about a chef?

I still think you and your gf should go into business for yourselves, doing vegan catering.

You know, I think that website is awesome. Simple, direct and easy to direct. I am dying to try most of the dishes there, mostly mac n cheese. You girls make a great team, and I think (as I've always said) you are great as a photographer and everyday doing better.

I fucking suck at creating a degree too. I love studying, learning mostly, but what can I do with a degree in Literature or in Film? Mah, nothing. I would love to be a college teacher, I absolutely would, but the educational world tends to be pretty hesitant with alternative thinking and unique looking people. I don't have any food-service experience either, and my best strength is writing (in Spanish). But I still want to stay in the US-Canada area. So what the hell??? haha Writing? Who wants that? And also, I'm about to get very naked on the internet, which difficults some good career possibilities and opens up others that I'm not interested in. Yay! haha

The only money-related "job" I've done for the past 2 years in the US has been stuffing envelopes for 8$ an hour and a modeling gig of two days that paid pretty well. And now I'm trying to get a blog started on self-portraiture and writing. I really really hope I don't get stucked on teaching Spanish to English-speaking people at nothing an hour forever.

So yeah - photographer (get more out there, you have beautiful models around), maybe teaching, or keep at web design and photoshop until you save up enough to do what rpg tells you: start your own catering. It would be amazing. Or start going to your favorite vegan place or coffee shop and ask for a job there. Good vibes are always a happy reason to smile.

Good luck on the job hunt Malloreigh. Are you trying any landscaping/gardening places they should be hiring as the weather finally picks up. I'm sure you'll find some photography stuff to make a bit extra, but work often sucks. My job didn't pay their power bill and hydro cut them off monday, no work for bender. I can't think of that much in the way of job finding advise so I'll just go with be relentless, drop paper resumes off anywhere you could stand to work and will take the resume, and good luck again.

I'm very unpresentable, and I only speak one language. Which is a big deal in the capital. Living alone sucks up a LOT of rent. It's becoming a major problem. I also have no food service experience, which is another huge problem.

At least you're better than the web than me! If I was to make a webpage now-a-days, I don't know where I'd start. The last page I made used frames.
