Where did the summer go?
....oh wait, it has officially been deemed the year without summer....that's right, I must have forgotten.
Take that you global warming alarmist sheeple! Where's your scorching sun now?!?
....O.k sorry for the name calling...I just love the word sheeple...(thank-you Clone High)

The amount of sea ice around Antarctica has increased 4.7 percent since 1980.
Yet all we hear about are the comparatively tiny areas that are melting.
The frenzied efforts of the warmists to panic us over all that vanishing Arctic and Antarctic ice are degenerating into farce.
The Arctic ice crust has thickened substantially, and alot of glaciers are actually GROWING in mass people!
Alaska's Hubbard Glacier advancing 7 feet per day!

Oops. We overlooked 193,000 square miles of ice!!
In May, 2008, the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) predicted that the North Pole would be ice-free during the 2008 melt season because of global warming.
~cough~ they now admit that teyve under reported Arctic ice extent by 193,000 square miles (500,000 square kilometers). They blamed the error on satellite problems and sensor drift. pfffft

Wake up and smell the carbon-cappin'-profiteering-scam people!!

Alright, alright. I'll step down off my soap box, and tell you my tales of adventure....
Last we spoke, I was camping, guess what I just got back from? More camping! Schwing

Tobermory, Ontario.
Every year, all the employees of my tattoo shop go on an epic trip of sorts.

Canadian wilderness at it's finest!
Did you know that the Niagara Escarpment extends 700 Kms. from Niagara Falls to Tobermory, where the 200 foot cliffs plunge into the depths of Georgian Bay?!
(Cause I was born in Niagara, and I was just swimmin' in the G~bay!)
During the Silurian period (438 and 408 million years ago) This was a giant barrier reef, teeming with marine life, and warm waters!
But now, that bitch is cold, and not-so-full of anything but angry red squirrels, and the occasional fish.
This dude:
zoom image
Was in our campsite chuggin' back our food stuffs, and screaming like a banshee.
Red Squirrels are fiercely territorial, and they never shut-up.
zoom image
zoom image
So just like every other camping trip, we lived by the campfire, and survived on canned beer.
It rained most nights...so I rigged an umbrella into my hair so I didn't have to hold onto it.

Tobermory is famous for it's "Beaver Tails" a deliscious pastry.

How I wish I had one now...

We went on a ferry to Flower Pot Island, which is now isolated, but it used to be part of an olde land bridge that connected Tobermory, at the Northern tip of the Bruce Peninsula, to Manitoulin Island, an area that, today, is covered by 90 km of water!
But the only way to Manitoulin Is. is the chi cheemaun:

On this boat, we stopped at a few shipwrecks on the way, quite the sight!

The "Flower Pot" nomenclature comes from these old rock towers formed from many years of punishment by water and wind

I swam through this underwater cave entrance 3 times! It leads out into the Georgian bay

Our last evening, we went to the Singing Sands. It is this inlet/small bay that has the warmest, shallowest waters stretching as far as the eyes can see....

We watched the glistening sunset...

It sucked leaving this place...

But, I'm a peace with it....due to HELL CITY PHOENIX NEXT WEEK!!!
...and not to mention, Rue Morgue Festival of Fear this week-end!

Yeah, I can't believe all the hype with global warming. I mean, I am all for the enviroment, but it is a *theory*, not a fact.

Anyways, awesome pics! biggrin

Wow the spires look awesome...How cold is the water? That would be an ideal free water solo climbing spot provided the water isn't too chilly. Glad to see you got out and enjoyed a bit of the summer camping.....

this summer has been COLD for sure...
however I watched a program at one point about how the ice melting creates more freezing over, over time, because the fresh water mixing with the salt water creates pressure changes and cold fronts that produce more freezing. I'm not sure how accurate that was... or if it has anything to do with anything at all.

Either way, I enjoyed reading your info smile

your vacation looks awesome... I don't even know where to begin! uhh the shipwrecks! Those photos are gorgeous. That must have been something to see. And! Cliff jumping = me being jealous.

Thanks for another great beaver shot Luscious. Your vacation photos kick ass.

Since the end of sunspot cycle 23 I've been thinking wouldn't it be cool if the fact earth is in a deep solar minium would throw off the air temperature numbers all the global warming people are always on about, 48 days with out a sun spot, rock on.
