So I'M GOING TO FUCKING ZANZIBAR ON SATURDAY
I don't know if you can tell but I am rather excited! Zanzibar is an island just off Tanzania in East Africa. This will be my second time visiting the East African Coast, I love Africa and I'm glad I've got an opportunity to explore. I can't wait to be at the sea, I fell like water makes everything better.

With that announcement over let me rewind a few days.. Things have been hectic at work in a good way, I've done a few tattoo's and I've decided it's the most fun you can have with your pants on. Really excited for next year. We had our end of year function at Greensleeves which is a medieval themed place that has a whole role-playing evening with dinner. As punishment for apparently having a guilty looking face I had to do the Can-Can, luckily I had tequila on my side. Shameless.

My sister was my 'date' for the night. This year has made me realise how lucky I am to have her in my life, she's effing amazing really. This year has been tough but she's spent almost every night in my bed with me to make sure I'm not alone.

Above is La the other apprentice, she's also a magical creature, I love the days we work together.

At the end of our party (I will skim through the part where I said I could climb my colleagues girlfriend like a pole, did and fell hard on my head) me and La were told that they had bought us our very own machines, I had a big cry about that, I love my tattoo family and the sense of purpose this has given me.

Needless to say I woke up with a rather large headache and the day looking a little bright for my sensitive eyeballs

I also got a new tattoo, it's a bear and he has kind eyes and I love him.

I thought this year would never end but December is coming. It's strange how even if you try stay the same, time just keeps rolling on and you end up being in a constant state of flux whether you like it or not. This year has been one of those. I've been trying something for the last while, to write down something I am grateful for everyday for 30 days to keep my mind in a positive state. What I've seen now is that everyday it's a person or people I am grateful for, I guess those are the parts of me that matter. So much love for my people. It's for this reason that I'm trying to disconnect from acting emotionally and irrationally, I think my experience in life would be happier if I could logically interpret feelings instead of indulging them but this takes a lot of discipline and I will continue to work on it.

I started pole again, it's been months but I was happy my muscles remembered things and it wasn't as hard as I anticipated.

My favourite song right now is 'Heartbeats' by 'The Knife' for some reason I can just hear it playing right inside my chest, I've had it on repeat since Monday. I just love the way she wails, it makes my heart beat a little faster.

I'll leave you with this xxx

Oh and I got a twitter @love_lunar I'm mostly silly but sometimes serious wink

Hello SG-land! I have so many exciting things to write about but first and foremost THANK YOU so much for everyone who helped get my set to front page, every comment is read and appreciated, and of course thanks to the ever talented talamia! Big love!

zoom image

So I did my first tattoo last week (on myself) they have given me the go-ahead now to start finding people to practice on which is wildly thrilling for me, I'm glad work is starting to move in a positive direction. I've made a really good friend there, she's unapologetic and straight forward and thinks in such a different way to me, it's refreshing. I like to believe that these things happen for a reason, already she has taught me so much about dealing with emotions good and bad and ways of considering morality, that these things aren't necessarily polarised. We are all good and bad and nothing at the same time but we are all human.

Our burlesque troupe did a halloween show which was really fun, I like performing whether we get paid or not (we did this time so it was a double bonus) and we got to dress up sort of scary, I went as Zombie Hello Kitty and Tarion was Harley Quinn. I'm really proud of myself I managed to a cartwheel in heels on a space-limited stage. I felt like a super hero for a few minutes haha.

And I got to have DIAMOND boobs!

zoom image

Made these little things for a baby shower. I think I'm possibly addicted to cute.. I returned home one night to find that Hello Kitty had joined me for a sleep over, it was actually slightly terrifying cos I tried to sleep with her tied to my wrist and woke up in the middle of the night to this giant floaty thing above my head..

Last Tuesday I went to my favourite South African band Crashcarburn's album launch, it was really awesome, they had the show in a huge cinema so while they played there were visuals screened behind them. It was all really well put together.

zoom image

I also got to meet my favourite Tarion's mommy last weekend, I was really nervous about her liking me cos I know that one day I will have to ask for her daughters hand in marriage and I don't want to fuck it up. haha smile Well it turns out she is just as lovely and sweet as Tarion.

And we found a LUNAR shop!!!

Did everybody have a good Halloween? I know I did (probably because I love dressing up more than anything)

On Friday I went to a Cosplay party and I dressed as Khaleesi from Game of Thrones. Unfortunately I'm not a very good dragon mother.. I broke his face off before the night was over but that wasn't my fault it was because they played Journey and Journey makes me dance kind of dramatic.

Last night I went to Beefcakes, a gay bar, it was wild smile So much gold.

Frank decided to dress up as me in the morning for Halloween haha!

I want to share my latest purchase, the most amazing swimming cap in the history of the universe. I didn't do 'swimming' before I saw the cap but then I couldn't live without it so I've been hauling my ass to the gym pool so I can wear the glorious thing! My online shopping addiction has gotten so severe the post man knows me by name and recognises my Asos parcels and he personally brings them to my mom's shop which is next door..

After almost a year my tattoo is finally finished.

zoom image

Last week I decided I needed an adrenaline rush so I got a second belly button piercing.

zoom image

So apart from my own body modifications I gave a grape fruit a Bambi tattoo, it's the first time I have been able to sit for a few solid hours to spend some quality time with the tattoo machine. My lines are a little shaky so I am gonna need to work on my hand strength and control.

zoom image

I seem to be living from one occasion to the next without much time to sit and think about what's really going on, I just keep hurtling forward.

Su has decided that she now likes to sleep tucked in next to me. Love.

My sister has now banned me from watching horror movies. Lol. We watched Cabin in the Woods last night and she slept next to me. (I must just add that I LOVE horror and I love being scared) I didn't find the movie too scary but clearly my subconscious was mortified. In the middle of the night I had a semi awake hallucination of this thing coming right for me so I clambered over her side of the bed screaming and started running away and woke up on the other side of the room to her screaming "It's just a shoe! Lie down" I thought it was quite funny but she wasn't amused since I am prone to strange night time sleep activity.

and that pretty much sums up my life thus far..

My new set L'odalisque is now in member review, thank you to everyone who has commented so far, love smile

A lot of consideration and and effort went into the styling so I thought I would give you some background information as to how it all came together.

Initially, I found the girdle that I was was wearing at a second hand store and immediately fell in love with it. It is vintage French Extase lingerie.

zoom image
zoom image

The original suspender clips had disintegrated so I had to sew on new ones.

After I had found the underwear I decided I needed a suitable hairstyle to match so I watched a trillion youtube video's on how to make finger waves.

This one being the most helpful:

These were a few practise runs:

To complete the look I made this fascinator for my hair:

When we were shooting I was lucky enough to have Tarion, Haddess, Lumo and Kohana cheering me on and they snapped a few behind the scenes shots.

All this combined with the talented talamia and this was the result:

So work has gotten pretty real, I will be doing my first ever tattoo (on myself) on November 5th. I'm feeling a little nervous, I feel a lot of responsibility comes with permanently marking someone even if it's on yourself. I've been practising on pig skin to get the feeling of the machine. It's quite ironic that my first ever tattoo on myself will come round about the same time as the last removal session for my first ever tattoo, if I think about that too much it muddles my brain.

zoom image
zoom image

I got a little heart tattoo under my arm as a colour test because that brand of red was rumoured to disappear and MAGIC! It's gone already!

Our burlesque troupe had a show last Friday, we were back up dancers for a transvestite. It was fabulous smile

zoom image

I proved my unwavering love and dedication to Hello Kitty by appearing (shamelessly) in public in this fancy get-up wink

On the 24th of September was South African Heritage day so in true boer style we had a braai, a braai that ended in a walk to the park, losing my ihpone in the grass and finding my iphone in the grass

My new set is out next Wednesday! Yay!

And now for mystery of the week! I woke up to find my duvet in the swimming pool this weekend, how it got there no one knows..

Last Thursday I was watching the sunrise and the scenery changing from Highveld to mountains, through the tunnel (yes I held my breathe) a couple of neccesary pit stops and 7 hours later, a dirt road lead us to the Kruger National Park. For those of you that don't know, this is one of the largest nature reserves in Africa spanning over 19, 485 kilometres squared and located both in the Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces. The area we stayed in was on the Limpopo side at my friends house called Ntsiri. The house is remote, with little sign of civilisation or other people and completely unfenced from the reserve (which includes the big 5 and a number of other dangerous animals). This was both exhilarating and a little terrifying.

zoom image
zoom image

Upon arrival we headed straight for the swimming pool, also unfenced and I had my first swim of the Summer.

zoom image
zoom image

Later we went to the watering hole for sundowners and were soon greeted by the most amazing site, a breeding herd of about 40 elephants came to drink not even 50m in front of us. They had in tow the tiniest new born baby. One of the older elephants kicked the baby over and I swear I was ready to step in and defend it (God knows how I thought I could do that) Luckily an equally protective group of mommies formed a circle around it and helped it up and they carried on playing and drinking from the river.

zoom image
zoom image
zoom image

The rest of the weekend was filled with food and drinking too much and a lot of laughing over very silly things. We saw a myriad of birds, Hornbills, Lilac breasted rollers, Glossy Starlings, an Owl, a Fish Eagle, Franklin's, Yellow Weavers etc.. as well as a hippo, a bush baby (OMG!!!!!), many elephants and impala, kudu, giraffe's, sadly no big cats but we did get to see a rhino on two, close up occasions which is really exciting considering how these amazing animals are being poached to the verge of extinction due to the common misconception that their horns increase the size of a man's penis.

Anyway, I had a lot of fun and spent most of the weekend dressed like this...

It's Spring!!! All the trees are starting to blossom and there is a warmth in the air again. Such a happy feeling.

As usual I have been keeping very busy, in the past it used to bother me to not having any down-time but more and more I am enjoying having things to do all the time. Besides work I have been painting a lot and making plastic icing figurine cake toppers and earrings for extra money.

Last weekend I helped on a video shoot for a band called Crashcarburn, from what I could see it is going to be really beautiful. I had to be a stunt double for the little girl they used (yes I am that small) They used me in the swimming pool smile It felt amazing to be submerged in water that wasn't cold, makes me miss the ocean. I love Joburg my whole life is here - I just wish I could relocate it to the beach, water in whatever form it comes has a way of making things feel better.

These are some shots I took at the shoot, I will post a link to the video when it comes out.

I had such a lovely weekend smile I went to stay at Tarion on Saturday, so Tarion, talamia and I drank tea, ate cupcakes, chatted and played with Lego as one does.. I love staying over there it's the only other place that feels like home other than home and seeing Tarion always makes me most happy.

We made a FABULOUS pleasure cruise for the Village people Lego men to ride on and had a little photo shoot.

zoom image

In the morning we went to Lory Park which is an animal sanctuary and rehabilitation centre. For anyone that knows me you will realise how anything vaguely animal orientated excited the pants off me!

I have a lot of stuff and by stuff I am referring to every possible spectrum of the word; clothes, shoes, bags, toys, pens, earrings, soap, books.. I could go on but I won't. Recently I have been attempting to de-clutter and trim down on my various collections but it is harder than it first appeared. I am not materialistic in the traditional sense, object's value are far less important to me than their worth. In my attempt at a clean up I have encountered one severe problem and that is an absolute inability to part with certain things. Whether it be a piece of paper that pertains to a specific memory, empty boxes, old school diaries and notes and every possible vintage of toy no matter how battered (I have decided that this is because I start to feel sad that the toy might be sad that I don't want it.. I have Toy Story partially to blame for this). Mostly I think my 'materialistic' tendencies stem from imbuing objects with memory and meaning, the thought of losing my things terrify me as I fear I will lose a certain time and with the objects the memory they hold. An example of this being a pillow I have, only yesterday did I come to grips with the fact that this pillow needed to be washed. I took it from the hospital the day my late boyfriend passed away (he was lying on it) and 6 months later it has become dirty from constant use and still contains spatters of blood. With this pillow I thought I could keep a part of my friend here but I am trying to accept now that I don't need 'things' for this if I still have my mind. Anyway today the pillow has been washed and nothing more has been lost.

Here is my toy collection after the recent tidy, it was hard to give a lot of the stuff up but I think it will have a better life in the hands of someone who would really appreciate it. (I do have to confess, there are 2 full boxes lurking under my bed but this transformation is a work in progress) The contrast to the volume of stuff I previously hoarded is immense!

zoom image
zoom image

Although I will always love 'stuff' and always probably have to much of it, I felt this change was needed, I don't want to be consumed with my things and in a way my mind feels de-cluttered too.

I shall end this with a photo of my favourite, favourite object I will NEVER give up, my little monkey friend Whitey (so original.. she did used to be white) that I have had and loved since I was three. smile
